We are living in a time when superhero movies are the absolute mainstream of modern Hollywood, and considering how gigantic cinematic events such as ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ have raised the bar, the studios needed some new ideas on how to keep this genre fresh and going. We wouldn’t be wrong to say that this current era of superhero movies is built on crossover movies featuring returning actors who retired from playing their respective characters long ago.

In 2021, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ assembled three live-action Spider-Men on the big screen. 2022’s ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ brought back Patrick Stewart as a variant of Professor X. Both of these movies were highly successful at the box office, and it was thought the superhero genre had found a new formula for success, a formula that’s built on fan-service and nostalgia.

DC tried to do the same with this year’s ‘The Flash’ by bringing back Michael Keaton to the role of Batman after more than 30 years, but that didn’t save the movie from becoming one of the biggest box-office bombs in the history of this genre. Now, Marvel Studios is preparing us for ‘Deadpool 3,’ and this movie will surely have its fair share of fan service as well.

‘Deadpool 3’ will see the return of Jennifer Garner’s Elektra!

‘Deadpool 3’ is currently in production, and it’s set to be released next May. The movie’s star Karan Soni recently revealed that he started his work on the movie but didn’t get the entire script, which means that this movie will have a ton of surprises, and it looks like we just found out about one of those.

According to The Hollywood Reporter‘s exclusive report, Jennifer Garner is set to return to the role of Elektra in ‘Deadpool 3.’

Garner debuted as Elektra Natchios in 2003’s ‘Daredevil’ movie, in which Ben Affleck played the titular role. The movie received mixed reviews and grossed $179.2 million worldwide against the $78 million budget. In 2005, Garner reprised the role in the spin-off movie ‘Elektra.’ The spin-off movie received negative reviews and was a box-office failure, grossing only $57 million worldwide against the reported $43–65 million budget.

It’s already known that ‘Deadpool 3’ will see the return of many stars from the previous two ‘Deadpool’ movies and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. ‘Deadpool 3’ is one of the most-anticipated superhero movies at the moment also because of the fact that it’s going to bring Merc with a Mouth to the MCU, and it’s also the first R-rated MCU movie ever.

Directed by Shawn Levy, ‘Deadpool 3’ is scheduled to be released on May 3, 2024.

Are you looking forward to ‘Deadpool 3’? What are your thoughts about Jennifer Garner’s return to the role of Elektra? Are you excited about it? Let us know in the comments.
