Jeremy Renner Reveals Why He Turned Down ‘Hawkeye’ Season 2

And while that might have surprised some, the MCU’s Hawkeye series was a proper hit. The dynanic between Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, paired with a great story, helped the series in a major way.
This ultimately led to the series’ success and while Marvel is apparently working on another season, we might have to brace ourselves for some disappointing news related to the second season.
Namely, everyone is expecting both Renner and Steinfeld to return for the second season of Hawkeye, but based on the information we have, it seems that we might be a bit disappointed in that aspect.
The news we have is related to Jeremy Renner, whose time as Hawkeye in the MCU might have come to an end. Before we elaborate, check out this video:
Esentially, Renner said that he was offered a role in the second season, but he was also offered half of what he earned in Season 1. This meant that he would have to do the same amount of job and film for about eight months, but he would get half the money; in fact, due to his recent injury, he would probably have to do even more work than before.
Renner did not blame Marvel or Disney, but the company accountants for that and he firmly rejected their offer as he had to defend himself, as he himself claims.
And while Renner stated that he would definitely like to do the show because he loves Hawkeye, he also said that he was willing to let it all go at this point due to these issues. This could potentially meant that his time as Hawkeye in the MCU is over, completely, although it is clear that he hasn’t fully closed that door just yet. We just hope that they managed to reconcile at some point; it would be a shame to lose Renner’s Hawkeye in the MCU.
