Jerry Seinfeld Sparks Outrage, Calls ‘Free Palestine’ Worse Than the KKK in 2025
Jerry Seinfeld caused a stir during a recent event at Duke University when he spoke about the “Free Palestine” movement.
The comedian compared the movement to the Ku Klux Klan, saying it hides its real intentions. According to The Chronicle, Duke University’s student newspaper, Seinfeld said:
“Free Palestine is, to me, just — you’re free to say you don’t like Jews. Just say you don’t like Jews. By saying ‘Free Palestine,’ you’re not admitting what you really think.”
“So it’s actually — compared to the Ku Klux Klan, I’m actually thinking the Klan is actually a little better here because they can come right out and say, ‘We don’t like Blacks, we don’t like Jews.’ OK that’s honest.” He said.
Seinfeld has long been open about his support for Israel, which has led to both praise and criticism. Back in 1971, when he was 17, he volunteered at Kibbutz Sa’ar in Israel and described the experience as very formative.
More recently, in 2023, he visited families of hostages taken during the October 7 Hamas attack and condemned Hamas publicly. His wife, Jessica Seinfeld, has also donated to pro-Israel causes, including a $5,000 contribution to a rally in support of Israel.
In 2018, Seinfeld faced backlash for visiting Caliber 3, a private Israeli security training center in the West Bank. The center runs military-style simulations, and photos of Seinfeld there drew criticism for depicting Palestinians as targets. Seinfeld defended the visit, saying he went to learn about security issues, not to make a political statement.
Seinfeld’s personal history has also attracted public attention. In 1993, at the height of his fame, he began dating Shoshanna Lonstein, who was 17 at the time, while he was 38. They met in Central Park, and she later gave him her phone number. Their relationship lasted four years, continuing after she graduated high school and went on to George Washington University.
In a 1998 Vanity Fair interview, Seinfeld addressed the age difference. He said he “almost got married” to Lonstein and added, “I know everyone looked at that relationship as here’s this rich TV guy and here’s this young, hot girl, but it wasn’t like that at all. We were very much in love, but the timing wasn’t quite right.” He also stated in interviews that he did not know her real age when they first met.
