Josh Hartnett to Star in Netflix’s New Sea Creature Thriller Set in Newfoundland

Josh Hartnett has been announced as the lead in an upcoming limited series for Netflix, set to premiere later this year. The series, which remains untitled, is a six-episode supernatural thriller set in a remote Newfoundland town.
Hartnett will portray a seasoned fisherman who must confront a mysterious sea creature threatening his community and way of life.
The series is created by Jesse McKeown, known for his work on The Umbrella Academy. It features a talented team of directors, including Jamie Childs (The Sandman), Helen Shaver (The Penguin), and Stephen Dunn (Closet Monster). The writing team comprises Karen Walton (Ginger Snaps), Perry Chafe (Republic of Doyle), and Natty Zavitz (Acquainted). Hartnett will also serve as an executive producer alongside McKeown, Jessica Rhoades (Black Mirror), and others.
Filming will take place in Newfoundland, Canada, utilizing the province’s rich history and stunning landscapes to enhance the series’ atmosphere. The local government has expressed support, highlighting the region’s commitment to storytelling and its unique beauty.
