Justin Baldoni Raises New Allegation Against Blake Lively Ahead of High-Profile Trial
Justin Baldoni is stepping up his legal fight against Blake Lively as the highly publicized courtroom battle over It Ends With Us heads toward a critical stage. On Wednesday, March 25, the 42-year-old actor and director, along with his legal team, accused Lively’s lawyers of trying to overwhelm them with what they called a massive “document dump.”
The court filings reportedly included nearly 1,000 potential exhibits and more than 40 witnesses, which Baldoni’s team argues is too much to handle before trial. They say the flood of materials could make it impossible to finalize jury instructions on time.
“It is difficult to imagine that even half that number would be put before the jury,” the defense letter stated, describing the witness list as an example of legal “overbreadth.” Lively’s team fired back on Thursday, March 26, saying the label “document dump” was unfair and that the request for more time was a stalling tactic.
They argued that Baldoni’s side is simply trying to delay the trial, and that their own delay in reviewing the materials shouldn’t justify an extension. Despite the pushback, Judge Lewis J. Liman approved a one-week extension for pretrial filings and set a status conference for April 2.
This latest development comes after a failed settlement meeting in February, when both stars reportedly met in person but couldn’t reach an agreement to avoid going to court. The legal feud began in late 2024 amid rumors of tension on the set of the blockbuster adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel.
Lively is seeking damages over alleged sexual harassment and attacks on her reputation. Baldoni countersued, claiming defamation and extortion, with his legal team asking for at least $400 million in damages.
Even with the court battle ongoing, both actors are staying busy professionally. Baldoni recently celebrated the success of his production company’s sports drama, The Senior, starring Michael Chiklis, which premiered in March 2025.
Lively is also moving forward with new projects after her Amazon Prime Video sequel, Another Simple Favor, debuted last year. She’s set to star in and produce The Survival List, an action-comedy about a producer stranded on a desert island.
The trial for It Ends With Us was originally scheduled for March but has been pushed to May 18 to fit the court’s criminal docket. This delay means the public drama between Baldoni and Lively, including claims of secret director’s cuts and alleged smear campaigns, will likely continue making headlines for months to come.
