Karl Urban Fights Bloody Battles as Johnny Cage in a New ‘Mortal Kombat 2’ Trailer
Mortal Kombat fans have something new to get excited about. Warner Bros. just dropped a new official trailer for Mortal Kombat 2, and the new posters are out too. The movie is set to hit theaters on October 24, 2025.
This time, Karl Urban, who many know from The Boys, joins the action. He plays Johnny Cage, a Hollywood movie star known for his flashy moves and cocky attitude. In the trailer, Cage is seen landing punches and kicking enemies, showing fans what they’ve been waiting for.
The sequel is adding even more characters from the popular video game series. Adeline Rudolph plays Kitana, the princess who fights using sharp steel fans. Tati Gabrielle takes on the role of Jade, Kitana’s childhood friend who fights with a staff.
Damon Herriman appears as the dark wizard Quan Chi, and Martyn Ford plays Shao Kahn, the evil ruler from Outworld. Fans will also meet Queen Sindel, played by Ana Thu Nguyen, Kitana’s mother. Her father, King Jerrod, is played by Desmond Chiam. CJ Bloomfield plays Baraka, a fighter with sharp teeth and blades in his arms.
Many familiar faces from the first movie are back too. Lewis Tan returns as Cole Young. Jessica McNamee is back as Sonya Blade. Fans will see Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jax with his metal arms, Josh Lawson as Kano, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Tadanobu Asano as the thunder god Raiden, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion. Joe Taslim returns as Sub-Zero, and Max Huang is back as Kung Lao, known for his deadly spinning hat.
















Director Simon McQuoid is also back, after directing the first Mortal Kombat movie in 2021. Warner Bros. promises even more action, blood, and brutal fights in this next chapter. According to the studio, the sequel will stick close to the violent and over-the-top style fans love from the video games.
The trailer shows Johnny Cage leading the fight with his flashy style and fast punches. Scenes of bloody battles and wild finishing moves fill the video, giving fans a good look at what to expect. Warner Bros. also released new posters showing the fighters ready for battle.
The first Mortal Kombat movie was released in 2021, introducing fans to Cole Young and the world of Mortal Kombat. This new film will bring even more characters and take the fight to the next level.
Mortal Kombat 2 releases in theaters on October 24.
