Kate Hudson gave the audience at the 32nd Actor Awards a hilarious opening, but it was her brother, Oliver Hudson, who ended up stealing the spotlight. The ceremony, formerly known as the SAG Awards, lets actors share personal stories and finish with the phrase I am an actor.

During her speech at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, Kate talked about her childhood, describing herself as energetic, a bit rebellious, and “boy crazy.” She joked about getting in trouble for daydreaming and even being sent home for inappropriate dress. “I was too loud, too messy, and always causing trouble,” she admitted.

Sitting right behind her, Oliver reacted in perfect comedic timing. He grimaced, nodded, and made faces that perfectly matched Kate’s stories, earning laughs from the audience. His reactions added an extra layer of humor, making it feel like the siblings were performing together.

Kate wrapped up her monologue with a joke about how her youthful chaos turned out to be helpful for her acting career. Oliver’s mock disgust gave way to laughter and applause, highlighting their playful dynamic.

The duo’s appearance was a last-minute arrangement. Kate explained on the red carpet that her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa, had gotten sick, so she called Oliver to be her date. The moment shows how close the siblings are, both on stage and off.

This isn’t the first time Kate has shared stories from her childhood. On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she read from her old journals and laughed at the dramatic feelings of her 12-year-old self. “I thought, I can’t read these.

I can’t read them,” she said. The notebooks contained playful, exaggerated musings on love and growing up, which she described as being like writing early Sabrina Carpenter songs.

Kate even read a song she wrote at age 12 about the touch of a hand and the whimper of a kiss, pausing to clarify she hadn’t actually kissed anyone at the time. “I was just imagining the drama of it all,” she said.

Professionally, Kate has been enjoying a big resurgence. She recently starred in the biographical drama Song Sung Blue alongside Hugh Jackman, playing a member of a Neil Diamond tribute band.

She is also preparing for the second season of her Netflix comedy Running Point, which premieres on April 23. During the awards night, Oliver revealed he had filmed a cameo for the new season, even though it was supposed to be a secret.

The Hudson siblings remain one of Hollywood’s favorite duos. Whether they’re joking on the red carpet, teasing each other on social media, or sharing moments in front of their mother, Goldie Hawn, their chemistry keeps fans entertained.
