Kathryn Newton Joins ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ as Cassie Lang After ‘Quantumania’ Return
Kathryn Newton is officially back in the Marvel universe, confirming that she will reprise her role as Cassie Lang in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. The announcement came directly from Newton herself through Instagram, where she revealed her return in a playful post that quickly got attention from fans.
In her post, Newton showed a director’s chair marked with her character’s name and the film’s title, a nod to Marvel’s usual style of teasing cast announcements. The reveal also hinted that Cassie’s role in the story will continue to grow after her appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where she last appeared on screen.
Newton also added a short comment while presenting the chair, joking about her character’s size and abilities. “It’s tiny because Cassie Lang gets tiny,” she said, referring to the character’s powers and her connection to her father, Scott Lang.
Cassie’s return had already been partly expected. A recent CinemaCon presentation reportedly included footage that showed Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, sharing a moment with his daughter, suggesting the family storyline will continue into the new Avengers film.
Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s biggest crossover projects yet. Alongside Cassie Lang, the film brings back a large lineup of familiar characters, including Captain America, Thor, Black Panther, Shang-Chi, Professor X, Magneto, and Gambit. In the Marvel timeline, she is the third actress to play Cassie Lang, following Abby Ryder Fortson in the earlier Ant-Man films and Emma Fuhrmann in Avengers: Endgame.
