Kendrick Lamar’s Comedy Movie With South Park Creators Delayed to 2026

Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming comedy film, which he is working on with the creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, has had its release date pushed back. Originally scheduled to debut on July 4, 2025, the movie will now be released on March 20, 2026.
Paramount, the studio handling the movie, hasn’t provided a specific reason for the delay. However, Lamar is expected to be busy on his Grand National stadium tour, which runs from April 19 to August 19. This tour will take him across several countries, including a stop in Sweden to wrap it up.
On its new release date, Lamar’s untitled film will compete with I Can Only Imagine 2, a faith-based sequel starring Dennis Quaid, which will also be hitting theaters that day.
Details about Lamar’s film remain tightly under wraps. So far, there has been no official announcement about the movie’s title, cast, or even the plot. What we do know is that the movie, which is a live-action comedy, is written by comedian Vernon Chatman.
The story follows a young Black man who works as an intern at a historical museum, where he reenacts the role of a slave. As he navigates his job, he discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his own.
Despite the secrecy surrounding the project, Lamar’s success in other areas has already captured public attention. The rapper recently won several Grammy awards, delivered a memorable Super Bowl halftime performance, and sparked a feud with fellow artist Drake.
