Could a Cassandra Nova x Professor X Movie Happen? ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Star Emma Corrin Thinks So
According to an interview with Emma Corrin reported by Variety, the actress has expressed strong interest in returning to the Marvel universe for a possible spin-off focused on Cassandra Nova and Professor X.
Emma Corrin joined Marvel in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, where they played Cassandra Nova, a powerful villain tied directly to Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X. In the film, Cassandra is shown as the dangerous and destructive twin of Xavier, a character who shares his origin but follows a much darker path. Even though the character’s arc ends in the movie, Corrin made it clear they are open to coming back.
Speaking about the idea of continuing the story, Corrin said, “Internet, make it happen!” The comment quickly spread among fans who were already discussing how Cassandra Nova could return in future Marvel projects.
Before joining Marvel, Corrin was best known for roles in period dramas such as The Crown, as well as films like The Policeman and Lady Chatterley’s Lover.
They described the jump from smaller drama projects to a massive superhero production as overwhelming at first. Corrin said, “I felt like I was at some kind of theme park all the time because things were just so overwhelming and I was like, ‘This cannot be real. I must be walking around with a visitor’s pass. Like, I can’t belong here.’”
Despite the scale of the production, Corrin said the experience became easier thanks to Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy, who helped create a relaxed set environment. They explained, “They made it feel like a small thing, not this massive scary thing,” and added that the set felt like a “playground” once filming began.
In Deadpool & Wolverine, Cassandra Nova is portrayed as a powerful psychic villain with a calm but dangerous personality. She is introduced as the twin of Professor X, which connects her directly to one of the most important figures in the X-Men universe. Even though she appears as a villain in the film, her character has deeper roots in Marvel Comics.
In the original Marvel Comics, Cassandra Nova is not just a simple enemy. She is described as a “mummudrai,” a kind of psychic twin that forms before birth. She shares a connection with Charles Xavier from the very beginning of his life. In the comics, she is created as a dark reflection of Xavier, representing everything he is not. While Xavier becomes a leader of mutant peace, Cassandra becomes violent and destructive.
Their connection is not only emotional but also biological and psychic. Cassandra Nova is often shown as having the same telepathic powers as Xavier, which makes her one of his most dangerous enemies. She even manages to cause large-scale destruction in the comics, including attacks on mutants and major X-Men locations.
Because of this deep link, fans have often speculated that Cassandra and Professor X could support a more emotional or character-driven story if they were ever paired again on screen. This is part of why Emma Corrin’s idea of a spin-off has gained attention.
Corrin suggested a very different direction for the characters in the future. They said, “I would like to see a Professor X and Cassandra Nova bonding film — a sibling comedy like ‘Step Brothers.’ Make it happen! Internet, do your thing!”
The idea of a lighter tone between two characters who are usually shown in conflict is what makes the suggestion stand out. Instead of focusing only on battle or destruction, Corrin imagines a story where the two psychic twins are forced into a strange relationship dynamic.
For now, Marvel has not announced any spin-off involving Cassandra Nova or Professor X. But with growing interest from both fans and actors, the idea continues to circulate online as a possible future direction for the X-Men universe.
