Kirsten Dunst, 43, Faces Awkward Moment When Skirt Splits at BAFTA Afterparty
Kirsten Dunst had a wardrobe mishap while heading to a high-profile BAFTA afterparty on Sunday night. The 43-year-old actress was arriving at the private members’ club Oswald’s in London when she realized the back of her skirt had torn.
Despite the tear, Dunst stayed calm and kept her spirits high throughout the evening. Earlier in the night, she had been at the Royal Festival Hall supporting her husband, Jesse Plemons, who was nominated for Best Actor.
For the afterparty, Dunst wore a black-and-white gown layered with a pink jacket featuring dramatic puffed sleeves. The skirt tear happened during the transition from the ceremony to the party, but it didn’t stop her from enjoying the night alongside industry peers like Emma Stone and Best Actress winner Jessie Buckley.
On the red carpet, Dunst and Plemons shared an affectionate moment, showing a united front. The couple, married since 2022 and parents to two sons, Ennis and James, have been praised for keeping their family life private while supporting each other’s careers.
Dunst had recently spoken out defending Plemons after what she saw as a snub from other major awards earlier in the season. The awards ceremony itself was dominated by Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film, One Battle After Another, which walked away with six major awards, including Best Film and Best Director.
While accepting the top honor, Anderson delivered a spirited speech, saying, “Anybody who says movies aren’t any good anymore can piss off because this is just a great f*****g year.”

There was also a big surprise in the Best Actor category. Many expected Timothée Chalamet to win for Marty Supreme, but Robert Aramayo took the award for I Swear. Jessie Buckley’s win for Hamnet was highly anticipated and emotional.
Outside of awards season, Kirsten Dunst is enjoying a busy career. She recently earned praise for her performance in the dystopian thriller Civil War and is set to reunite with director Ruben Östlund for The Entertainment System Is Down, a social satire set on a long-haul flight featuring Keanu Reeves and Daniel Brühl.
Jesse Plemons is also at a career peak. He just finished filming Bugonia, a sci-fi comedy remake of a South Korean cult classic, alongside Emma Stone. He will also star in the upcoming Netflix series Zero Day with Robert De Niro, a political conspiracy thriller.
The couple continues to balance their busy careers with raising their two young sons. Dunst has hinted that she may return to more comedic roles soon, seeking projects with a lighter tone after years of heavy drama.
