Kunal Nayyar is getting attention for how he uses his money to quietly help people. The actor, best known for playing Raj Koothrappali on The Big Bang Theory, recently shared his thoughts on wealth and giving back.

He said he often spends his evenings looking through GoFundMe pages. When he sees a story that touches him, he pays off medical bills for families in need. Money never felt heavy to me, Nayyar said. It feels like a gift from the universe that gives me the freedom to help others. He called himself a kind of masked helper, saying he prefers to give without drawing attention.

Friends and sources close to him say this is not a new habit. With an estimated net worth of around $45 million, he is able to help others without it affecting his own lifestyle. Along with his wife, Neha Kapur, he also donates to animal charities and funds scholarships for students who would not otherwise have access to education.

Fans shared the story online and praised him for taking action instead of just posting messages of support. Some compared his efforts to a recent GoFundMe campaign for the family of James Van Der Beek, which raised millions. While some critics questioned why the story was publicized and shared, many said it shows how acts of kindness can inspire others.

Nayyar earned most of his wealth from his 12 seasons on The Big Bang Theory, which ended in 2019. At the peak of the show, the main cast earned around $1 million per episode, making them some of the highest-paid actors on television. He was regularly listed among the top earners in the industry, with yearly incomes exceeding $20 million.

Since the show ended, he has taken on more serious roles. He received a BAFTA nomination for Criminal: UK and appeared in Suspicion and The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. In late 2025, he starred in Christmas Karma, a holiday movie inspired by A Christmas Carol.

Off-screen, Nayyar runs a production company called Good Karma Productions. He is developing a TV adaptation of the thriller novel The Inheritance, described as a family drama with high stakes similar to Succession.

Earlier this year, he appeared at the Tagore Centre in Berlin and spoke about the importance of authentic representation for Indian talent in global films, emphasizing the need to move beyond stereotypes to find authentic cultural voices.
