‘Landman’ Just Landed Its Biggest Win Yet Ahead of Season 3
Taylor Sheridan’s television success continues to grow, and now one of his hit series has reached a new milestone before its next season arrives. Landman has won its first major industry award ahead of Season 3, adding another achievement to Sheridan’s expanding list of successful projects.
The Academy of Country Music recently announced that Landman will receive the ACM Film Award during the 19th ACM Honors event, which will take place in Nashville this August. The award recognizes feature films and television shows that make strong use of country music in their storytelling. According to the Academy of Country Music, one of the main requirements for the honor is the prominent use of country music throughout the soundtrack.
The recognition comes at a strong time for the Paramount+ drama. Landman has already completed two seasons and has become one of the streaming platform’s most successful original shows. Created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, the series follows the world of the oil business in Texas and stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris.
Season 2 received positive reviews from both critics and viewers. Collider reported that the second season holds an 80% critics’ score on the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. The show’s popularity also continued to grow with audiences. According to Collider, the Season 2 finale attracted 15.8 million viewers within its first 48 hours, making it one of the biggest releases for Paramount+.
The success of Landman is another example of Sheridan’s growing television empire. His breakthrough came with Yellowstone in 2018, and since then he has created several successful series for Paramount. In 2026 alone, Sheridan introduced two more projects, The Madison and Marshals, while continuing work on his existing shows. Landman has become an important part of that lineup, standing alongside other popular titles created by the writer and producer.
Paramount+ has already renewed Landman for a third season, and production is currently underway. The upcoming episodes will continue Tommy Norris’ story after the major changes at the end of Season 2. Instead of remaining in the corporate oil business, Tommy has decided to start running his own company alongside his son, Cooper Norris, played by Jacob Lofland.

Before filming began, some fans wondered if Billy Bob Thornton’s character could be written out of the series. The speculation grew after several surprising story developments in Season 2. However, Thornton recently eased those concerns during an interview earlier this month.
Speaking about the future of the series, the actor said, “I think Taylor [Sheridan] is going to let me hang around.” His comment suggests that Tommy Norris will continue to play a major role in the story moving forward. The reassurance comes after Jon Hamm’s character, Monty Miller, exited the show in Season 2, leaving many viewers wondering what other major changes could happen.
With production already moving forward and its first major award now secured, Landman enters its next chapter with plenty of momentum. According to Collider, the series continues to be one of Paramount+’s biggest success stories, and fans now have another reason to look forward to Season 3.
