‘Lanterns’ Drops New Trailer Showing Off Epic Green Lantern Powers
A new teaser trailer for Lanterns has just been released, giving fans their first real look at the Green Lantern powers in action.
The series is an upcoming superhero drama set in the DC Universe. It focuses on two Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart, as they work together to solve a murder case on Earth. The story mixes superhero action with a detective-style mystery, which sets it apart from typical comic book shows.
In the new teaser, viewers finally get to see the Lantern powers being used on screen. The Green Lantern rings create energy constructs and show their full abilities in real action scenes, something fans have been waiting to see since the project was announced. The trailer highlights both Hal Jordan’s experience and John Stewart’s newer, more grounded approach as they investigate a strange and serious case in Nebraska.
The show is created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. It is produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television and is part of the new DC Universe plan led by James Gunn and Peter Safran. The creative team has described the series as being inspired by crime dramas like True Detective and Slow Horses, focusing more on investigation and tension rather than constant superhero battles.
The main cast includes Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. Other key cast members include Kelly Macdonald, Nathan Fillion, and Ulrich Thomsen, among others. The series also features a large supporting cast playing characters connected to both Earth-based mysteries and the wider Green Lantern mythology.
According to production details from HBO and DC Studios, filming took place in Los Angeles between early and mid-2025. Several directors worked on different episodes, including James Hawes, Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov. The series is planned as an eight-episode season.
The teaser also confirms the release window for Lanterns, which is scheduled to premiere on August 16. It will be part of the first chapter of the new DC Universe titled “Gods and Monsters.”
Overall, the new trailer is important because it finally shows the Green Lantern powers being used in live action, giving fans a clearer idea of how the series will balance its detective story with superhero action.
