LEGO PlayStation 1 Set Revealed, Here’s Everything We Know About Price, Pieces, and Release Date

Retro gaming nostalgia has become a massive business in recent years, with companies increasingly finding creative ways to let longtime fans relive their childhoods through physical collectibles. Few partnerships capture that spirit quite like LEGO’s growing lineup of gaming-inspired sets, which has already tackled everything from Super Mario to classic handheld consoles.

That lineup is about to get a major addition. Sony and LEGO have officially announced a collaboration bringing the original PlayStation console to life as a buildable brick set, giving fans their first real chance to recreate a piece of gaming history on their own shelves.

According to PlayStation’s official blog, the LEGO PlayStation set will retail for $179.99 USD, arriving as a 1,911-piece build designed to replicate the console at nearly a 1:1 scale. The finished model measures 10.5 inches, or roughly 26 centimeters, wide once fully assembled, giving fans a substantial centerpiece for their collection.

The set, officially numbered 72306, doesn’t just recreate the console itself. It also includes a brick-built replica of the original PlayStation controller, complete with the console’s classic design before analog thumbsticks became standard on later models. The lid of the console can also be opened to reveal the internal mechanics, along with two hidden dioramas paying tribute to Ape Escape and Gran Turismo, two titles closely associated with the console’s early library.

PlayStation described the project as a celebration of over three decades of shared gaming memories, noting that the set was developed in close collaboration with LEGO designers to craft a building experience inspired by the console’s origins. That attention to detail places the LEGO PlayStation alongside the company’s other retro console builds, which have similarly focused on faithfully translating nostalgic hardware into brick form.

The LEGO PlayStation will become available directly through PlayStation’s own online store starting October 1, with availability extending to the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. LEGO Insiders will also gain early access starting that same day, while the set becomes available more broadly through LEGO.com and physical LEGO Stores starting October 4.

Pricing varies slightly by region, with the set listed at €159.99 in Europe, £139.99 in the United Kingdom, and ¥27,980 in Japan, all figures inclusive of tax. That international rollout suggests both companies are treating this as a major release designed to reach PlayStation’s global fanbase rather than a limited regional exclusive.

Adding extra incentive for fans eager to jump on the release, reports have indicated the set will include a free Astro Bot-themed gift while supplies last, though full details on that bonus item haven’t been confirmed. The inclusion is a notable choice given Astro Bot’s association with the modern PlayStation era rather than the original 1994 console, though it fits with the character’s growing status as PlayStation’s unofficial mascot.

The timing of the release also positions the LEGO PlayStation perfectly for the holiday shopping season, giving both longtime PlayStation loyalists and LEGO collectors a natural gift option heading into winter. With the original PlayStation having sold more than 100 million units during its lifetime, there’s clearly a massive built-in audience eager to display a piece of their gaming history.
