Leonardo DiCaprio’s (51) Dyed Hair and Mustache Confuse Oscars Watchers

Leonardo DiCaprio surprised a lot of people when he arrived at the 2026 Academy Awards. The 51-year-old actor walked the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre with a completely different look. His hair appeared darker than usual, and he had grown a thick mustache that immediately caught everyone’s attention online.

The mustache quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the night. Many viewers started joking that DiCaprio’s new facial hair looked very similar to the style usually worn by fellow actor Pedro Pascal.

Since Pascal showed up at the ceremony clean-shaven, people on X began making playful theories about the situation. One viewer wrote, “Leonardo DiCaprio stole Pedro Pascal’s mustache and the ceremony hasn’t even started yet, I’m not ready.”

Others online had different reactions and joked about the style, with some bluntly calling it a “p**n stache.” A few people even said the actor looked like comedian Shane Gillis. Despite the mixed opinions online, DiCaprio looked comfortable and relaxed while posing for photographers.

He wore a classic black tuxedo and attended the event with his girlfriend, Italian model Vittoria Ceretti. Their appearance together also drew attention because the couple has reportedly been dating for nearly three years.

Some social media users pointed out that this relationship goes against the long-running joke about DiCaprio only dating women younger than 25. One fan commented online, “He’s actually attractive for an old man.”

DiCaprio had another reason to celebrate at the ceremony. He was nominated for his role in the film One Battle After Another. The movie has been a major presence during this year’s awards season. The film was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and received a total of 13 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.

In the story, DiCaprio plays Ghetto Pat Calhoun, a former revolutionary who is pulled back into violence while trying to protect his daughter. The cast also includes Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro.

DiCaprio has several other projects coming soon. He recently finished working on the film What Happens at Night, a gothic psychological horror movie directed by Martin Scorsese. The story follows a couple who travel to a small European town hoping to adopt a child. The cast includes Jennifer Lawrence and Mads Mikkelsen.

This movie continues the long partnership between DiCaprio and Scorsese, who have now worked together on seven films. DiCaprio is also preparing to play famous stunt performer Evel Knievel in a new biopic directed by Damien Chazelle. The story will focus on Knievel’s famous 1974 attempt to jump across the Snake River Canyon.

Outside of acting, DiCaprio remains active as a producer through his company Appian Way Productions. The company is currently developing several documentaries and series related to environmental issues.

For now, though, it was his mustache at the Academy Awards that had people talking the most. As reactions online showed, even a small change in DiCaprio’s look can quickly become a big conversation across the internet.
