Daniel Neeson, the 29-year-old son of actor Liam Neeson, recently shared a personal update about a serious heart condition he has lived with since birth. On March 3, Daniel posted on social media that he had undergone surgery to correct a bicuspid aortic valve, a rare defect where the heart valve has only two leaflets instead of the usual three.
This condition affects only a small number of people and requires careful monitoring over time. Throughout his life, Daniel followed a strict schedule of cardiology appointments to keep track of his heart and watch for complications like aortic enlargement.
He explained that while he had expected surgery might be needed later in life, recent tests revealed significant dilation in his left ventricle. “I drew the early-bird straw regarding the timing of the surgery,” he said, describing the experience as surreal.
Daniel reflected on the process, saying the realization of a lifelong health issue had quietly built up over the years. “There was no dramatic warning; it’s just a situation dictated entirely by genetics and science,” he wrote.
He explained that the surgery forced him to let go of control and fully trust the surgical and ICU teams. “It was less about being completely fearless and more about leaning into the healing energy and staying present throughout the recovery,” he added.
