Livvy Dunne Lands Role in the Upcoming ‘Baywatch’ Reboot
The famous lifeguard drama Baywatch is getting a new life on television, and a new face is joining the cast. Livvy Dunne, the 23-year-old social media star and former LSU gymnast, has officially signed on to appear in the upcoming reboot being developed by Fox.
According to early reports about the show, Dunne will play a character named Grace. She is described as an eager junior lifeguard who is excited to prove herself while working on the beach. The role marks Dunne’s first major step into scripted television and signals a new direction in her career.
The new series is bringing together a large cast. Stephen Amell will play the main role, stepping into the story as Hobie Buchannon. The character is the son of the legendary lifeguard Mitch Buchannon from the original series.
David Chokachi is also returning to the franchise and will once again play Cody Madison, a character fans remember from the earlier show. Several other actors are joining the project as well. Shay Mitchell, Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Brooks Nader, and Noah Beck are all part of the growing cast lineup.
Details released by the network describe the new story as a continuation of the Buchannon family legacy. In the updated version, Hobie is now the captain of the Baywatch lifeguards, following the path set by his father Mitch, who was played by David Hasselhoff in the original series.
The storyline becomes more complicated when Hobie’s daughter suddenly appears. The character, Charlie, played by Jessica Belkin, arrives to join the team and train as a lifeguard under her father’s supervision. Her arrival creates both family tension and new challenges on the beach.
The original Baywatch series ran from 1989 until 2001 and became one of the most recognizable television shows of its era. Known for its beach rescues, dramatic moments, and famous slow-motion running scenes, the show developed a huge international audience during its long run.
Fox hopes the new version will capture the same excitement while updating the story for modern viewers. The network has already announced that the reboot is planned as one of its major titles for the 2026 to 2027 television season. However, an exact release date has not yet been confirmed.
Livvy Dunne’s involvement has drawn particular attention because of her large online following. She became widely known while competing as a gymnast at Louisiana State University and has since built a massive presence on social media.
In recent years, she has also been involved in promoting opportunities for student-athletes, especially around name, image, and likeness deals. Taking a role in a television series is the latest step in her expanding career.
Many industry observers believe the project could introduce her to a much wider audience beyond sports and social media. Stephen Amell also brings strong experience to the show.
He spent many years starring in the superhero series Arrow, where he played Oliver Queen. That role required intense physical training and stunt work, which could be useful for the action scenes expected in the new Baywatch.
Fans of the original series are already watching the reboot closely. Some are curious to see how the new show will balance nostalgia with modern storytelling. Early descriptions suggest the series will still focus on dramatic beach rescues but will also explore family relationships, especially the dynamic between Hobie and his daughter.
