Mariah Carey Dominates the Night in a Sheer Look at Star-Studded Pre-Grammys Gala
Mariah Carey made a major style moment before the Grammy Awards. The music icon stepped onto the red carpet in Los Angeles wearing a bold floral gown that quickly caught everyone’s attention. The appearance happened during the Person of the Year celebration held on Friday, according to event coverage and red carpet photos shared from the gala.
Her outfit was an intricate black look with a sheer, corset-style design. The dress featured black lace details and a soft train that flowed behind her as she walked. Under the transparent layer, Carey wore a black crop top and matching briefs. She completed the look with diamond jewelry, including a sparkling necklace, earrings, and stacked bracelets.
Carey wore her blonde hair down in loose waves and confidently posed for photographers throughout the night. The look was daring, elegant, and very on brand for the superstar.
Later in the evening, the 56-year-old singer took the stage to accept the top honor of the night. During her speech, she shared how grateful she felt to be there and spoke about how emotional the experience was. She mentioned how special it was to see people she has worked with over the years, along with familiar faces from earlier in her life that she did not expect to see.
The night was filled with performances celebrating her career and influence. Artists like Jennifer Hudson, Billy Porter, Taylor Momsen, Kesha, and the Foo Fighters performed songs in her honor. Other celebrities spotted at the event included Charlie Puth, Adam Lambert, and Dove Cameron.
Carey also spoke about how meaningful it was to hear other artists perform her songs. She said it was surreal to hear her music reimagined in ways she never expected, and she appreciated the fresh energy they brought to her work.

On the music side, Carey has teased the release of a long-rumored alternative album called Someone’s Ugly Daughter, which she recorded in secret during the 1990s.
