Marvel Drops First Trailer for ‘Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday’ Podcast Hosted by Iman Vellani

Marvel Studios has never been shy about building anticipation, and with ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ still months away, the studio is once again finding new ways to keep fans engaged in the meantime. This time, that means sending two familiar faces on a trip back through the franchise’s biggest moments.

The result is a new companion series designed to walk audiences through the films that shaped the road to Doctor Doom’s arrival, blending nostalgia with a countdown clock fans have already been watching tick away. It’s a format Marvel has leaned on before, but the choice of hosts this time is what’s generating buzz.

That series is the ‘Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday’ Official Podcast, hosted by Frank Alvarez and Iman Vellani, with its first trailer now circulating online ahead of the show’s premiere. The five-episode series will revisit key entries in the Infinity Saga, working chronologically toward ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ itself.

Alvarez, known as co-host of the comedy podcast ‘The Basement Yard,’ will guide the rewatch alongside Vellani, who fans know best as Kamala Khan, or Ms. Marvel. Together, the pair will recap major story beats from each film while unpacking the lasting cultural impact those movies have had on the broader franchise.

The lineup of films covered includes ‘The Avengers,’ ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ with one episode dedicated to each. Rather than functioning as a simple recap show, the hosts are expected to dig into character arcs and thematic threads that could carry forward into ‘Doomsday.’

Timing appears to be a deliberate part of the rollout. The fifth and final episode, centered on ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ is scheduled to coincide with the theatrical re-release of ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ on September 25, giving Marvel a coordinated nostalgia push heading into the fall.

The podcast will be available to watch on Disney+ and Marvel’s YouTube channel, with an audio-only version also released on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other major platforms. The first episode premieres August 27, with new installments arriving weekly after that.

Vellani’s involvement has fans especially curious for reasons beyond her hosting duties. She’s previously appeared in the MCU across ‘Ms. Marvel,’ ‘The Marvels,’ and the ‘Marvel Zombies’ spin-off, and speculation has been building that she could be part of the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ cast itself, though Marvel has not officially confirmed her involvement in the film.

That uncertainty has only added another layer of intrigue to the podcast’s launch, with some fans wondering whether the show might drop subtle hints about her character’s future along the way. Given how tightly Marvel has controlled information around ‘Doomsday’ so far, even a rewatch series hosted by one of its own stars feels like it could be worth watching closely.

With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ set to hit theaters on December 18, Marvel now has a steady stream of content designed to keep the countdown front and center for months. Whether or not the podcast reveals anything new about the film itself, it offers longtime fans a fresh excuse to revisit the saga that built toward this moment.
