Marvel Studios has never been shy about locking down release dates years ahead of a single announced casting or plot detail, and this week proved that strategy is alive and well. As the studio gears up for one of its most ambitious stretches yet, Disney has quietly filled in another piece of the puzzle on its long-term theatrical calendar.

That puzzle has been taking shape gradually throughout 2026, with Marvel and Disney locking in dates for major franchise tentpoles well before fans know what’s actually coming. The pattern reflects a studio playing a long game, claiming valuable release windows before rival franchises can grab them.

Now, an untitled Marvel film has officially been slated for release on November 9, 2029, marking the third confirmed date the studio holds for that year alone. No title, cast, or plot details have been attached to the project, leaving fans to speculate about what exactly Marvel is planning for that late-year slot.

That mystery fits a growing trend. Disney has now reserved three separate dates in 2029 for MCU projects, landing on May 4, July 13, and November 9, none of which currently carry an official title. Marvel has several in-development projects that could eventually fill those windows, though the studio has yet to confirm which movies will land where.

The newly confirmed November date caps off a Marvel release calendar that’s rapidly filling out through the end of the decade. Before any of the 2029 mystery titles arrive, audiences have a substantial run of confirmed releases to look forward to first.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ kicks things off on December 18, 2026, followed by ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ on December 17, 2027, closing out the current Multiverse Saga. From there, 2028 becomes Marvel’s busiest year in recent memory, with the rebooted ‘X-Men’ opening May 5, Ryan Gosling’s ‘Ghost Rider’ following on July 28, and Ryan Coogler’s ‘Black Panther 3’ rounding out the year on December 15.

That kind of density hasn’t been seen from Marvel since 2025, when the studio released three films in a single year. Locking in three additional dates for 2029 signals the studio intends to keep that pace going well beyond ‘Secret Wars,’ rather than scaling back after its next big crossover event.

With no titles confirmed for any of the 2029 slots, speculation has run wild across fan communities and industry outlets alike. Possibilities floated for the open dates include a ‘Shang-Chi’ sequel, a third ‘Doctor Strange’ film, a follow-up to ‘The Fantastic Four,’ and even a long-rumored Blade reboot that’s remained on Marvel’s radar for years.

Other theories point toward entirely new territory for the franchise, including a potential standalone Nova film, which Marvel has reportedly been developing as a live-action theatrical project after previously considering it for television. Until Marvel makes an official announcement, though, all of these remain guesses rather than confirmed plans.

Whatever ultimately fills these open 2029 slots, the strategy behind securing them so far in advance is clear. By claiming release windows years before a title is even announced, Marvel ensures it controls prime real estate on the calendar, especially as competition for premium release dates across the industry continues to intensify.

For a franchise that just wrapped one of its most successful box office runs with ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ that kind of long-term planning suggests confidence rather than caution. Marvel appears determined to keep its release calendar stacked well into the next decade, even before fans know exactly what they’ll be watching.

With so many blockbuster releases already locked in between now and 2028, patience will be the name of the game for anyone hoping to learn what’s landing in that 2029 window.

What do you think Marvel will release in November 2029?
