Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Marketing Blitz Lands in Shanghai With X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Wakandan Logos on Display
Marvel Studios has always known how to build anticipation for its biggest crossover events, but the road to December’s mega-team-up has been unfolding on a truly global scale. Long before a single trailer hits screens, the studio has been staging elaborate physical displays across international markets to keep fans buzzing.
That promotional campaign has now made another stop in China, where a new installation has appeared featuring the film’s various superhero team logos arranged among greenery, staircases, and decorative clouds. It’s the latest in a string of international activations designed to tease just how massive the scope of this crossover truly is.
The display prominently features the Avengers’ iconic “A” logo at its center, flanked by circular emblems representing the X-Men, the Fantastic Four’s “4,” and imagery tied to Wakanda, including a Black Panther-branded trash receptacle nearby. This marks at least the second major Shanghai-area marketing push for the film this year, following an earlier Shanghai Expo activation in July that recreated sets from Doctor Doom’s throne room and Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.

‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ is set to bring together heroes from three previously separate corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. The Avengers side of the roster includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Robert Downey Jr., Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, and Danny Ramirez, among others.
Joining them are the leads from ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps,’ including Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, alongside a returning wave of X-Men franchise veterans such as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Alan Cumming. Channing Tatum is also set to appear, reprising his Gambit role from ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’
At the center of it all is Robert Downey Jr., who has stepped into the role of Doctor Doom for the film. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has described the character as the prototypical supervillain archetype that influenced generations of pop culture antagonists, noting that Doom’s genius, warmth, and unwavering belief that he’s the true hero of the story are what make him such a compelling figure.
Earlier marketing materials distributed around the Shanghai Expo appearance depicted Doom flanked by distinct hero factions, including Steve Rogers, Thor, Ant-Man, and the New Avengers on one side, X-Men members like Cyclops, Mystique, and Magneto on another, and the Fantastic Four alongside Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Black Panther, and Shang-Chi rounding out the ensemble. Loki has also been spotted subtly worked into some of the promotional artwork, fueling speculation about his role in the larger story.

Behind the scenes, the film is being directed by the Russo Brothers, with Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito producing alongside the Russos’ AGBO banner. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, with its follow-up, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ set to arrive roughly a year later on December 17, 2027.
Given the scale of the marketing rollout so far, from recreated movie sets to elaborate public installations spanning multiple countries, it’s clear Marvel is treating this crossover as one of the most significant events in the franchise’s history. With reshoots reportedly still underway and a first trailer yet to fully materialize, fans can expect the promotional momentum to only keep building as the December release date approaches.
