‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’ Has Gone Gold, Insomniac Games Confirms

Being one of the most popular superheroes and fictional characters ever created, it’s no wonder that Spider-Man was adapted numerous times into all kinds of media. When Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created the character back in 1962, we aren’t sure if they were aware of what legend they created, and that legend has remained ubiquitous to this day.

Now, in 2023, we can say that we’ve read countless Spider-Man stories in the comics, watched eight live-action movies, two animated theatrical movies, and many animated series. Also, the Spider-Man fans had a chance to play countless video games on various platforms.

The first-ever video game based on Spider-Man was released back in 1982 for Atari 2600 and Odyssey 2 platforms. Since then, numerous video games featuring Spider-Man have been released, including three games based on Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ movie trilogy and two games based on Marc Webb’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ duology.

‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’ has officially gone gold one month ahead of the release!

The wait is almost over! Insomniac Games recently posted on their official social media accounts that ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,’ one of the most anticipated video games this year, has officially gone gold! In case you don’t know, that means the game’s development is completed, and the game is ready to be released.

In that regard, Insomniac published a video in which the game’s voice actors are expressing their excitement for the upcoming game. Nadji Jeter (Miles Morales), Yuri Lowenthal (Peter Parker), Laura Bailey (Mary Jane Watson), and Tony Todd (Venom) informed the fans about the game going gold, and Todd said: “We are Venom! We are Gold!” in his Venom voice. He sounds like a perfect Venom, just FYI. You can watch the video down below or by clicking here.

The most recent Spider-Man video game franchise started in 2018 when Insomniac Games released ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man,’ a game exclusive for PlayStation 4 that received acclaim from critics and fans for its story, narrative, gameplay, and graphics. The game became the best-selling PS4 exclusive of all time, with over 20 million copies sold. Two years later, a spin-off sequel ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ was released for PS4 and PS5, along with the remastered version of the original game for PS5.

‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’ is the third installment in Insomniac’s Marvel franchise, and we already know it won’t be the last. After completing their work on ‘Spider-Man 2,’ the studio immediately switched to the development of their next game, ‘Marvel’s Wolverine,’ which will be set in the same universe as their incarnation of Spider-Man.

‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’ is set to be released on October 20, 2023, exclusively on PS5. Pre-orders are now available.
