‘Masters of the Universe’ Star Jared Leto Breaks His Silence On Sexual Assault Allegations From 10 Women
Jared Leto has responded to a new series of sexual assault allegations made by 10 women in a BBC documentary, strongly denying the claims and saying he has never sexually assaulted anyone.
The actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman addressed the allegations in a statement to Entertainment Weekly after the BBC published a report about the accusations. The report is tied to a new documentary, “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret,” which features accounts from women who say they had disturbing experiences with Leto over the years.
In his statement, Leto rejected the allegations completely. “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life,” he said. “These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”
The BBC report includes several different allegations involving women who say they were teenagers when some of the alleged incidents happened. One woman reportedly said Leto signed an autograph over her breasts when she was 14 and made a comment about her body.
Another woman alleged that she had sex with Leto when she was 17 while in California. Because California’s age of consent is 18, the BBC noted that the allegation, if true, would fall under the state’s definition of statutory rape.
A separate woman described an alleged encounter in a motel room. According to the BBC’s report, she said Leto opened a shower curtain and began kissing her. She further alleged that he then took her hand and used it to masturbate himself.
The new documentary focuses on accounts from 10 women, with the BBC presenting their allegations as part of a wider investigation into Leto’s conduct. The report does not establish that the allegations are true, and Leto has firmly denied them.
The allegations come after Leto has faced other accusations of sexual misconduct in recent years. Some women have previously spoken publicly about alleged encounters with the actor, while Leto has denied accusations of sexual wrongdoing.
