Ever since the Fantastic Four reboot movie, which will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was announced in December 2020, there’s been a lot of rumors and reports about the movie’s development, but there’s still no word on the actors that will be hired to play Marvel’s first family in the MCU. Now, according to the latest rumors, MCU’s Reed Richards could be played by someone very known to Star Wars fans.

According to Daniel Richtman, Adam Driver is reportedly in final negotiations to join the MCU as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic. Adam Driver is best known for the role of Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, in which he was highlighted as one of the good sides of those movies. He also starred in several critically acclaimed movies such as BlacKkKlansman, Marriage Story, and The Last Duel. This year he’s set to star as Enzo Ferrari, the biopic about the founder of Ferrari.

Three actors had the chance to play Reed Richards since Fantastic Four first appeared on the big screen. Ioan Gruffudd played the character in the original Fantastic Four movie in 2005 and its sequel in 2007. Miles Teller played him in the 2015 reboot, which critics and audiences panned. John Krasinski played the alternate Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but shortly after the movie’s release, it was reported that Krasinski isn’t expected to play the main Reed Richards once the Fantastic Four joins the MCU full-time.

Fantastic Four Reboot Has Found a New Writer

The Fantastic Four reboot movie, which will be set in the MCU, was first announced in December 2020 with Spider-Man MCU trilogy director Jon Watts set direct. However, after the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home in December 2021, Watts announced that he’d take a break from the superhero genre, and he stepped down from the Fantastic Four project.

After that, Matt Shakman, who directed all the episodes of the WandaVision series, stepped down from Star Trek 4 at Paramount to sign to direct Fantastic Four. Many fans expected the official cast members to be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con or D23 Expo last year, but Marvel Studios remained silent about that.

Written by the Avatar: The Way of Water co-writer Josh Friedman and directed by the WandaVision and Game of Thrones director Matt Shakman, MCU’s Fantastic Four is set to be released on February 14, 2025, as the first movie of Phase 6.
