Meet the Cast of ‘Paris Is Always a Good Idea’ on Hallmark+

Hallmark+ has been steadily expanding its slate of globe-trotting romances, and its latest offering takes that formula to a new level of ambition. Rather than confining its story to a single postcard-perfect town, the streamer’s newest limited series sends its lead character across three different countries in search of old love and new purpose, giving the network’s cast list a decidedly international flavor this time around.

That series, ‘Paris Is Always a Good Idea,’ marks Hallmark’s first-ever limited series and is based on the bestselling novel by Jenn McKinlay. The six-episode story follows career-driven nonprofit executive Chelsea Martin as she travels to Paris to secure a major donation, only to find herself pulled into an unexpected journey across Ireland, Spain, and beyond to reconnect with three great loves from her past.

At the center of that journey is Lacey Chabert, who plays Chelsea and has become something of a fixture at Hallmark after appearing in more than 40 of the network’s films. Chabert’s onscreen romantic entanglements this time revolve around Scott Michael Foster, who plays Jason Knightly, Chelsea’s confident rival-turned-ally who accompanies her on the Paris trip that kicks off the story.

Rebecca Hanssen, recognized for her work on ‘The Witcher,’ plays Annabelle, Chelsea’s younger sister, whose encouragement following their late mother’s heartfelt message is what pushes Chelsea to revisit her past relationships in the first place. Henry Czerny, known for roles in ‘Revenge’ and ‘Ready or Not,’ plays Chelsea’s father, adding a layer of family gravitas to the emotional stakes driving the story.

Barbara Niven, a familiar face to longtime Hallmark viewers from ‘Chesapeake Shores,’ also joins the ensemble, continuing a pattern of returning talent that has become something of a signature for the network. Rounding out the cast are Stephen Hagan, Julien Marlon Samani, and Alejandro Albarracín, who take on roles connected to the three men from Chelsea’s past that the story revolves around, each representing a different chapter of her romantic history across the show’s European settings.

Filming across multiple European countries clearly left an impression on the cast beyond just the work itself. Speaking with PauseRewind’s Elizabeth Stanton, Czerny described picking up one of his favorite souvenirs from the trip, a painting he found along the Seine, saying, “My best souvenir that I bought was a painting by a student of a woman,” and describing the piece as “almost abstract, but not quite,” with colors and shapes he called fantastic.

That same conversation revealed a lighter side to the production as well, with Foster and Chabert both picking up personalized hairbrushes from a small Paris shop, and Hanssen admitting Chabert’s enthusiasm for shopping led her to collect a handful of neckties of her own. Those small details paint a picture of a cast that genuinely enjoyed each other’s company while filming across three very different countries.

‘Paris Is Always a Good Idea’ is now streaming on Hallmark+, with episodes including “Absolutely Devoted to You,” “Toast to Italy,” and “The Way Home” continuing Chelsea’s journey across Europe. For fans of Hallmark’s typical small-town romances, the show’s international scope and limited-series format mark a notable departure from the network’s usual playbook.

Between the scenic backdrops and a cast clearly having fun both on and off camera, ‘Paris Is Always a Good Idea’ looks poised to become one of Hallmark+’s standout offerings this year.
