Actor Mickey Rourke is going through a difficult moment after a court in Los Angeles approved his eviction from a home he had been renting in the Beverly Grove area. According to court information reported by several entertainment outlets, the decision came after the actor did not respond to a legal complaint tied to unpaid rent that had grown to more than $59,000.

The property owner, Eric Goldie, filed the case earlier this year. A judge eventually granted him possession of the house through a default ruling after Rourke failed to formally answer the lawsuit in court.

The dispute between the actor and the landlord had already been playing out in public for weeks. Rourke has repeatedly said he stopped paying rent on purpose because he believed the house had serious problems that were never fixed.

Earlier this week, the actor spoke about the situation and explained why he made that specific decision. “Withholding rent was not a decision I made lightly,” Rourke said in a statement.

“I simply could not continue paying for a house that was in such poor condition after so many attempts to have these issues corrected.” Members of his team also described what they said were major issues inside the property.

According to them, the house had water damage, black mold, and ongoing pest problems. They argued that the conditions made the place unsafe to live in. The situation became even more controversial when a GoFundMe fundraiser connected to Rourke’s management team appeared online.

The campaign was meant to raise money to help him deal with housing costs. Fans quickly started donating, and the page reportedly collected more than $100,000. But the effort caused a new wave of drama when Rourke publicly rejected it.

The actor said he never approved the fundraiser and was unhappy that it was created in his name. He also criticized the idea of fans donating money to him. Rourke described the fundraiser as humiliating and made it clear he would not accept the money. He said he did not want what he viewed as a handout.

His manager, Kimberly Hines, later spoke about the situation and said the campaign was created with good intentions. According to Hines, the team only wanted to help the actor deal with the housing situation and keep a roof over his head.

At the same time, the heavy media attention around the eviction story has strangely brought new attention to Rourke’s acting career. Hines recently told reporters that the publicity has led to several new movie offers for the veteran performer.

After years of appearing mostly in smaller projects, the actor is now reviewing a few potential roles. However, people close to him say he is still being very selective about what he accepts.

Rourke built his reputation with intense performances in films such as The Wrestler, Barfly, and Angel Heart. Over the years, he became known in Hollywood for both his powerful acting and his complicated career path.

While the housing dispute continues to attract attention, the actor is also considering what his next step in film might be. For now, the situation has placed the longtime Hollywood figure back in the headlines for reasons both personal and professional.
