Milly Alcock Teases ‘Supergirl’s’ “Space-Western” Style in New Comments About the Film
Milly Alcock has shared new details about her upcoming film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, describing its tone as something very different from typical superhero movies. In comments reported by Vogue Australia, she said the film feels like a “space-western” with a gritty and moody style.
She explained the atmosphere in simple terms, saying, “The tone is very cool. It’s very space-Western, very dingy and dark. A lot of pubs, a lot of neon.” Her description paints a picture of a harsh, lived-in universe rather than a clean or polished sci-fi world.
The remarks come from a Vogue Australia feature that also included a photoshoot of Alcock by Lachlan Bailey, where she was styled in high-fashion looks while discussing her role as the new Supergirl. The article focuses on her rise in Hollywood and how she is stepping into one of DC’s most iconic characters.
Alcock also spoke about the responsibility of playing Supergirl, saying she understands the expectations that come with the role. She noted that the character already has a strong fanbase, which makes the pressure even bigger. At the same time, she highlighted how meaningful it is to see young fans respond to the character.
She said seeing children in Supergirl costumes has been one of the most rewarding parts of the experience, explaining that it feels like a full-circle moment for her as an actor stepping into such a well-known superhero world.
In the same interview, she described Supergirl as a character who is not naturally comfortable with heroism. She said the role connects to her personally because the character struggles with responsibility and fear while still being pushed into greatness.
The film, Supergirl, is part of the expanding DC Universe and is expected to introduce a darker and more grounded take on the character. Alcock is leading the project in what is her first major superhero role, marking a major step in her career after earlier breakout performances in television.
According to Vogue Australia, the film also explores a more intense emotional journey for the character, with themes of isolation and identity playing a major role in the story. Alcock’s comments suggest the movie will mix sci-fi worldbuilding with a rough, western-inspired tone.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is currently set for release in cinemas on June 25.
