Content creators have increasingly found their way into the film and television world in recent years, and streaming personalities in particular have started treating their online followings as launchpads for genuine multimedia franchises. YouTube and Twitch star Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White has been quietly building toward exactly that kind of expansion for the past several years.

White first introduced fans to “GodSlap” back in 2021, a comic book series built around his own love of over-the-top action, gore, and, fittingly, slapping. The project grew into a full ongoing series published through Bad Egg, the publishing house White co-founded with merchandising firm Warren James, eventually spawning multiple issues alongside animated trailers produced by Sakowski Studios.

That comic is now officially becoming a full feature film. Lyrical Animation is producing a movie adaptation of “GodSlap,” teaming up with White’s own Meatier Productions to bring the ultra-violent, anime-inspired story to the screen, according to Deadline.

“GodSlap” follows an 18-year-old farm boy raised in hiding by a father who considers his extraordinary power a curse. After losing everything during a single night of rebellion, the young protagonist must decide whether the force living in his hands makes him a monster or the only person capable of taking down the corporation that controls the world.

That premise builds directly on the comic’s original tone, which drew comparisons to works like “One Punch Man” and “Blade Runner” when the series first launched. The comic itself centers on protagonist Aius Bruan, whose anger channels into devastating slaps as he navigates the fictional city of Montpelier, told through a striking black-and-white art style broken only by moments of bright red blood.

Kellan Stover is directing the 2D hand-drawn animated film from a script written by Lyrical’s Creative Director Daniel Dominguez and Head of Lyrical Animation Jacob Robinson. Austin-based Powerhouse Animation Studios, known for its work on “Castlevania,” is handling the animation itself, giving the project a team with proven genre credentials.

The “GodSlap” news arrives alongside another major creator adaptation from the same studio. Lyrical Animation recently announced it’s also adapting the hit video game “Bloodborne” for film alongside PlayStation Productions and fellow content creator Seán McLoughlin, known online as Jacksepticeye, with parent company Lyrical Media co-financing that project alongside Sony Pictures.

Speaking about the studio’s excitement for bringing “GodSlap” to the screen, Dominguez said, “We’ve been longtime fans of Charlie, so getting the opportunity to bring his anime-inflected, hilariously violent comic Godslap to life was a dream come true,” according to Deadline. He added that the comic stands as “one of the funniest, most non-stop surprising, and thematically urgent” releases of the past decade, calling it a perfect fit for an animated feature adaptation.

Founded in 2021, Lyrical Media has built its portfolio around titles including “Bruiser” and “How to Blow Up a Pipeline,” signaling a broader strategy of pairing established internet personalities with serious animation talent to produce genre-driven feature films.

Production on the “GodSlap” adaptation is already underway, with the film currently slated for release in 2028. White has already unveiled a teaser for the project, giving fans their first proper look at how the comic’s chaotic energy and art style might translate to a full-length animated film.

With White’s massive existing fanbase and Powerhouse Animation’s genre pedigree behind the project, “GodSlap” looks positioned to be one of the more closely watched creator-driven animated features heading toward its eventual release.
