Get ready, because the end is near for one of the biggest superhero anime out there. I’m talking about ‘My Hero Academia’, which is gearing up for its final season. This October, we’re all in for a treat as the show lands on Crunchyroll, streaming worldwide except in Asia. New episodes will drop weekly, hitting the platform the same day they air in Japan. It’s the perfect setup for us to catch the action as it unfolds.

The story’s been building to this for a while now. ‘My Hero Academia’ follows Deku, our determined hero, as he takes on Shigaraki in what’s shaping up to be an epic clash. This final season promises to settle the score and decide the world’s fate. Over at AnimeJapan 2025 in Tokyo, Toho Animation dropped a fresh teaser trailer and some slick key art to get us pumped. The eighth season is where it all comes to a close, and it’s hard to believe we’re finally here.

Behind the scenes, Naomi Nakayama is back in the director’s chair after handling Season 7 last year. She’s working with a solid team, including Kenji Nagasaki as chief director. The script comes from Yosuke Kuroda, who’s been with the show since day one, while character designs are handled by Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima. Yuki Hayashi’s music will keep the energy high, just like it did in ‘Haikyu!!’. And of course, the animation is in the hands of BONES FILM, the studio that brought us hits like ‘Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood’ and ‘Mob Psycho 100’. These folks know how to deliver.

The anime is based on Kohei Horikoshi’s manga, which ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. That story wrapped up in August 2024, giving us 42 volumes of Deku’s journey from a quirkless kid to a top-tier hero. Since the anime kicked off in 2016, it’s grown into a global favorite, with seven seasons, a few movies, and even some video games. This final chapter is set to tie it all together.

Deku versus Shigaraki is the showdown we’ve all been waiting for, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out.
