Naomi Watts is opening up about aging and how she thinks about beauty in her late 50s. In a recent interview with Bustle, the 57-year-old actress talked about how her views have changed since turning 50.

Over the past decade, Watts says she’s felt more freedom letting go of the pressure to stay young. “I no longer wish to look as I once did,” she told Bustle. She explained that she’s focused on self-acceptance and embracing her current stage of life instead of chasing impossible standards.

Watts also shared that she doesn’t feel the need to look 25 anymore or fight to regain that age. She finds peace in knowing what works for her and sticking to it. When plastic surgery came up, she admitted she hasn’t gone that route.

“I hope those around me can tolerate my drooping jowls for the time being,” she said, joking that she has no plans for surgery anytime soon. She added that while she isn’t against it for others, it’s just not her choice right now.

The actress’s daily routine has changed along with her mindset. Now that her children are older, she enjoys taking quiet moments for herself at night, often with a hot bath to unwind.

Watts has also become an advocate for menopausal health. She experienced perimenopause much earlier than expected, starting at 36 after the birth of her second child, Kai. She encourages women to speak up about their symptoms and not let doctors dismiss them, earning her a reputation among peers as the menopause lady.

Even with these personal changes, Watts is staying busy in Hollywood. She is currently playing Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the drama Love Story, which focuses on the former First Lady’s life after JFK’s assassination.

She is also filming a new feature in Montreal with director Cody Fern, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Dianne Wiest. In the movie, she plays the estranged sister of Paulson’s character who comes back after 30 years to face a fractured family.

Recently, Watts received praise for her role in The Friend, a film adaptation of Sigrid Nunez’s novel. In the movie, she stars with Bill Murray as a woman who inherits a massive Great Dane after the death of her mentor.

The role highlighted her talent for emotional and character-driven stories. Naomi Watts seems to be embracing this stage of life fully, staying active in her career while being honest about aging and self-care.
