Netflix’s New 6-Episode Crime Thriller Is Crushing It With Near-Perfect Reviews
Legends is quickly becoming one of the standout new crime series on Netflix. According to streaming data and reviews reported by Rotten Tomatoes and Netflix viewing charts, the six-episode drama has already reached the No. 7 spot on the platform’s Top 10 Most Watched list and is pulling in strong critical praise.
The series has also earned a 92% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, putting it close to “near-perfect” status among recent crime dramas. Audience scores are slightly lower at around 83%, but still show that the show is widely enjoyed by viewers.

Legends is set in 1990s Britain and follows a major heroin crisis that spreads through the country. The story focuses on a group of civil servants who are pushed into undercover work as they try to break apart dangerous criminal networks responsible for the drug trade.
The main cast includes Steve Coogan, Tom Burke, and Hayley Squires, who all play key roles in the investigation and undercover operations. Their performances have been highlighted as one of the strongest parts of the series, helping bring weight and realism to the story.

Critics have especially praised the pacing of the show. Instead of rushing through the story, the series takes its time to build tension and develop characters. This slower approach has been described as refreshing in a streaming landscape where many shows rely on fast pacing and constant twists.
One critic, Ahbishek Srivastava, noted, “Legends will work for viewers who prefer slower and more thoughtful crime dramas. It tells a compelling story inspired by true events without padding it with unnecessary spectacle or forced emotional twists.”
Even though the show is slower in tone, it still includes moments of action. The production uses its budget to create realistic chase scenes, tense undercover situations, and gritty crime environments that reflect the harsh reality of the drug trade during that time period.
Audience reactions have also been mostly positive. Many viewers appreciate the show’s attention to detail and its grounded portrayal of 1990s Britain. The soundtrack, filled with 90s music, has also been a major talking point among fans, adding to the atmosphere and nostalgic feel.
One viewer said, “It’s absolutely brilliant, so easy to watch, loved the soundtrack. It was a very 90s fantastic choice, love the Stone Roses. The Liverpool drugs gang was done perfectly, no over-exaggerated accents, and I think I know how they developed the storyline around certain characters and the actual gangs that were around Liverpool at that time.”
Some viewers did feel that the series lost a bit of momentum in its final episodes, but overall reception remains strong. Many fans have compared Legends to other major crime shows like Narcos, especially in its focus on real-world crime networks and undercover investigations.
With strong reviews, a high Rotten Tomatoes score, and a top 10 ranking on Netflix, the series is already being seen as one of the more successful crime dramas of the year.
