Netflix’s New Crime Thriller Just Dominated the US Streaming Charts
Netflix’s new crime thriller is getting a lot of attention right now after quickly rising to the top of streaming charts in the United States. According to Netflix rankings and early viewing data, the eight-part crime thriller is performing strongly just days after its release.
The series was released on Netflix on May 14, 2026. It was created by Courtney A. Kemp and Tani Marole, and it comes at a time when Netflix is trying to find its next major global hit after the end of long-running shows like Stranger Things.
The story of Nemesis takes place in Los Angeles. It follows a tense and personal conflict between two main characters. One is Isaiah Stiles, played by Matthew Law, who works in the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division. The other is Coltrane Wilder, played by Y’lan Noel, a skilled thief with a long criminal history. The show focuses on how their chase turns into something more intense and dangerous over time.

The series also includes Gabrielle Dennis, Cleopatra Coleman, and Sophina Brown in key roles. Their characters are tied closely to both sides of the conflict, adding more pressure and personal stakes to the story.
At the center of the plot is a simple idea. A detective and a criminal keep chasing each other, but the line between justice and obsession slowly becomes unclear. The official premise describes it as a cat-and-mouse game in Los Angeles between law enforcement and a criminal mastermind.

Nemesis is currently the number two show, ahead of titles like The Roast of Kevin Hart, the adaptation of Man on Fire, the British crime series Legends, and the true-crime documentary Worst Ex Ever. Reports also say that globally it is the second most-watched series, just behind the Spanish show Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine.

Early critical response has also started to come in. Review tracking sites reported by entertainment media show positive feedback. Rotten Tomatoes currently shows a 91% approval rating based on early critic reviews. Metacritic has given it a score of 72 out of 100, which reflects generally favorable reviews.
As of now, Nemesis is being seen as one of Netflix’s strongest new releases of 2026, especially as the platform continues looking for its next long-running hit.
