Netflix’s New Danish Thriller Is So Gripping You Won’t Be Able to Look Away
Netflix has added another must-watch to its growing list of international hits — The Asset, a Danish thriller that’s been earning high praise from both viewers and critics since its debut on October 27.
The series tells the story of Tea, a police agent played by Clara Dessau, who takes on a dangerous undercover mission inside a powerful crime organization. Disguised as a jeweler, Tea’s job is to get close to Ashley, the girlfriend of a ruthless mob boss. But as she becomes more involved in their world, Tea starts to struggle with her own sense of right and wrong.
A young agent goes undercover to befriend a drug smuggler’s wife. But the closer she gets to her target, the more complicated her mission becomes.

Netflix described The Asset as a show that explores “the fine line between good and evil.” The deeper Tea goes, the more she sees the dark reality of Ashley’s life under the control of a violent criminal, leading her to question where her loyalty truly lies.
Originally released in Denmark under the title Legenden, the six-episode drama focuses on themes of identity, morality, and personal sacrifice. It’s not just about crime — it’s about the cost of living a double life.
Director Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm told Netflix that her goal was to make the story feel human and grounded. “I was drawn to tell this story because it explores the complexities of identity and loyalty under extreme pressure,” she said. “Through Tea’s journey, we see how far someone is willing to go to do what they believe is right – even when the lines between good and evil become blurred.”
So far, The Asset has an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is receiving strong word-of-mouth online. Fans on social media have praised the show’s writing and performances, particularly Maria Cordsen’s portrayal of Ashley. One viewer wrote, “The Asset was straight to the point. Unlike most Nordic noirs, it was more about the characters than the action.” Another said, “It got better with every episode, and the ending of Episode 6 really sets up a great Season 2.”

Many have also praised the pacing and realism of the show, calling it “a solid piece of television” and “a thrilling binge.”
The Asset is exactly the kind of tense, emotional storytelling that keeps Netflix’s international catalog so strong. It’s not flashy, but it’s sharp, smart, and gripping from start to finish. If you enjoy morally complex thrillers that explore the gray areas of human behavior, this one’s worth your time.
