Netflix just dropped a new Spanish drama, and it’s already sparking conversation. Olympo, a series set in a competitive sports academy in the Pyrenees, launched on June 20, 2025. Created by Jan Matheu, Laia Foguet, and Ibai Abad, the show dives deep into ambition, rivalry, and hidden secrets among young athletes.
At the heart of the story is Amaia Olaberria, played by Clara Galle. Amaia is a dedicated swimmer and the captain of her team. She’s used to winning—until her closest friend, Nuria (played by María Romanillos), unexpectedly beats her in a race. From there, tensions rise, not just between the two girls, but within the academy itself.
Amaia begins to suspect that something strange is happening. Athletes are suddenly improving at an unrealistic rate. Her curiosity turns into a quiet investigation, leading her to discoveries that make her question everything about the place she’s trained in and trusted for so long.
The cast features a group of mostly young actors, including Nuno Gallego, Nira Osahia, Agustín Della Corte, Andy Duato, Najwa Khliwa, Juan Perales, and Martí Cordero. They all play students or athletes at the academy. There are also brief appearances from Melina Matthews and Nico Furtado in the early episodes.
The show was first announced in July 2024, when filming was already underway. The scenic mountain location, shot at the Balneario de Panticosa in Huesca, adds a dramatic backdrop to the series. Netflix dropped the first teaser in April 2025, building hype ahead of the premiere.
Early viewers are calling it intense and full of emotion. It’s especially appealing to fans of teen thrillers like Elite, with its mix of personal drama, secrets, and high stakes. The competitive sports setting adds a unique angle that sets it apart from other youth dramas.
