Netflix’s ‘The One Piece’ Remake Finally Gets a Release Date As New Details are Revealed
Anime remakes have been getting a lot of attention lately, especially when they involve big, well-known stories that already have huge global fanbases. Streaming platforms are also putting more effort into long-term projects like these, trying to bring new life to older or ongoing series with updated animation and pacing.
Fans usually have to wait a long time for updates on these kinds of productions. Even small pieces of news can spread quickly online, especially when a popular franchise is involved. That’s exactly what has been happening with one of the most talked-about upcoming anime projects in recent years.
According to Netflix , the remake of One Piece, titled “The One Piece,” now has an official release window. The series is set to premiere in February 2027 on Netflix.
The project was first announced during Jump Festa 2024 back in December 2023. Since then, updates have been rare, with only a few visuals and design previews shared over time. Because of that, this release confirmation is the biggest update fans have received so far.
The remake is being handled by Wit Studio, a studio known for major anime projects like “Attack on Titan” and “Vinland Saga.” The series is directed by Masashi Koizuka, with character design work led by Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda.
What’s also been revealed is the structure of the release. The first season will include 7 episodes, covering roughly the first 50 chapters of the manga. That storyline takes the series up to the Baratie arc, where Monkey D. Luffy meets Sanji for the first time. The total runtime will be around 300 minutes, and all episodes will be released at once.
The original manga, created by Eiichiro Oda, is the best-selling comic series in history, with over 600 million copies sold worldwide. Because of that, expectations for the remake are very high, especially since it aims to retell the early story in a more modern and condensed format.
Based on current information, this is only the beginning of a larger adaptation. The first season is expected to focus on the East Blue storyline, with more episodes likely to follow in later releases.
