New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Posters for Premium Formats Put Doctor Doom Front and Center
Marvel’s marketing for ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ has become a campaign about one man. Nearly every new piece of art has leaned into Doctor Doom’s green-lit menace, and each fresh release adds another layer of dread. The latest batch of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ posters continues that approach, but with a practical twist, since each one is tied to a different way of seeing the film.
Four official posters have been released, tied to ScreenX, 4DX, Fandango and RealD 3D. All of them carry the film’s December 18 release date, and the movie arrives in theaters that day with Robert Downey Jr. playing Victor von Doom.

Each poster has its own personality. The ScreenX version shows hooded figures against green stained glass, while the 4DX design shows Doom in a heavy dark cloak with a “Feel It in 4DX” tagline. The RealD 3D poster is a tight close-up of his metal mask lit in glowing green, with the line “Meet Your Doom in RealD 3D” and a note that December 18 is Doomsday.
The Fandango poster takes a more regal angle, showing Doom seated on his throne beneath tall stained-glass windows. Several of the posters carry the Infinity Vision branding, which is Disney’s premium large format certification and plays a central role in the film’s rollout.

These designs follow a long run of Doom-centered artwork. At least 25 posters have surfaced online, many of them tied to a 2027 calendar listing, and they carry taglines such as “Doom Has No Rivals”, “Doom Supreme” and “Doom Does Not Beg”. Several use a stained-glass style that echoes the first poster released in late 2025.
Marvel has also made history with the approach. Doom’s first solo poster was the first time an MCU villain received their own poster without other characters, and a later ‘Team Doom’ poster showed him in his throne room with three Latverian witches. A new international poster pairing Doom with the Sentinels was displayed at Lucca Comics & Games in Italy.

The heroes’ side of the marketing has been a bit more divisive. A seven-hero poster featuring Reed Richards, Gambit, Sam Wilson, Yelena Belova, Thor, Shuri and the Thing drew criticism from fans who thought the lineup felt underwhelming. Some also questioned why Gambit made the cut over classic X-Men like Cyclops or Magneto.
Even so, the volume of artwork shows how heavily the studio is investing. With the film uniting heroes from the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, each poster is a chance to remind audiences of the scale.

The format-specific posters are more than decoration. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will not play on IMAX screens in its first three weeks because ‘Dune: Part Three’, which opens the same day, holds an exclusive IMAX window. In response, Disney developed Infinity Vision, a certification for premium large formats that debuted with the ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ re-release on September 25.
Disney’s CFO has said that domestic presales passed $50 million months before release, with more than 70% of those sales tied to Infinity Vision. A tracking firm has since estimated that the figure crossed $65 million, though that number is unofficial, and reports say global presales have topped $100 million.

The posters also point to special events. AMC is hosting a RealD 3D Fan Event on December 20, where every guest receives a pair of collectible 3D glasses featuring one of five mystery logos: the Avengers, Black Panther, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four or Doctor Doom. The film is also being released in 4DX in 3D.
Premium formats have become a major revenue driver, and studios are leaning into them. Disney has pitched Infinity Vision to other studios, while IMAX has publicly downplayed the label as a marketing move, setting up a visible format showdown.
With about seven weeks to go, the marketing is likely to intensify. A final trailer is expected in mid-November, and more posters and collectibles are likely before the premiere. Meanwhile, ‘Dune: Part Three’ is running its own premium campaign, which makes December 18 one of the most competitive dates in recent memory.

For fans, the new posters are a small but striking reminder of what’s coming. The only question is which format to choose.
