New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Promo Uses Marvel Wordplay to Unite the Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four
Marvel’s marketing machine for ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ has kicked into high gear, and the studio is clearly in no hurry to slow down. Over the past few weeks, fans have been getting a steady stream of countdown teasers, regional installations and character-focused artwork that all build toward the film’s December release.
The campaign has leaned heavily on one big idea: this isn’t just another team-up. The film brings together the Avengers, the Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers and the X-Men against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, and the promotional material keeps finding new ways to put those teams side by side.
The latest example arrived on October 6, when MCU Film News shared a new ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ promo built around 3 simple words: Assemble, Unite and Family. The wordplay is the whole point, since each word carries a team symbol hidden in plain sight.

In the graphic, “Assemble” is written in gold, with the Avengers’ iconic “A” logo serving as its first letter. “Unite” appears in red, with the X-Men’s circular “X” emblem replacing the final letter. “Family” is rendered in icy blue as “F4mily,” with the Fantastic Four’s “4” logo standing in for the letter A.
The ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ logo sits at the bottom of the image, tying the three words together. It’s a compact, easy-to-share design, and it fits the pattern Marvel has used throughout the campaign. The “Family” nod also plays on how the Fantastic Four are often described as Marvel’s First Family.
The new graphic follows a rapid run of promotional material. On October 4, promo art spotlighted Sue Storm, Black Panther, Mystique and Yelena Belova. A day later, a “Heroes Assemble” piece paired Wyatt Russell’s John Walker with Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm, using the same gold “A” and blue “4” framing.
Retro comic book-style artwork credited to hexfacility has also surfaced, with corner boxes featuring an emblem that combines the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men symbols. Earlier in the campaign, artwork showed the three team logos colliding, and Tokyo’s Grand Cinema Sunshine displayed posters featuring the X-Men, Black Panther and Fantastic Four logos alongside a Doctor Doom standee. A Shanghai installation also arranged the team emblems among greenery and staircases.

The strategy makes sense given the film’s ensemble. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Rebecca Romijn and Alan Cumming are returning as X-Men, while Channing Tatum is back as Gambit. The Russo brothers are directing, and the film marks the official MCU debut for several of those veteran mutants.
The audience also appears to be responding. Disney announced in September that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ had crossed $50 million in domestic presales three months before release, with more than 70% of those tickets going to premium formats branded as Infinity Vision. Global Box Office has since put the figure above $55 million and projected a domestic opening between $260 million and $300 million.
Marvel has also been using lighter promotional beats. A 100-day countdown teaser landed in September, and a “Silence Your Phones” theater PSA featuring the cast arrived recently. Each piece keeps the film in conversation without revealing much about the story itself.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arrives in theaters on December 18, the same day as ‘Dune: Part Three,’ a clash fans have dubbed Dunesday. With about 10 weeks to go, expect more promos, more regional activations and likely another full trailer before the premiere.
Until then, graphics like this one do exactly what they are designed to do: remind fans that 3 of Marvel’s biggest teams are finally sharing the same screen.
