A new clip from the upcoming psychological thriller The Housemaid has been released, giving fans a first look at Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried in action.

The film, directed by Paul Feig and written by Rebecca Sonnenshine, is based on the 2022 novel by Freida McFadden, and promises a dark, suspenseful story set within a wealthy family’s home.

In the movie, Sydney Sweeney plays Millie Calloway, a young woman with a troubled past who takes a job as a live-in housemaid.

As she settles into the Winchester household, she begins to uncover dangerous secrets lurking beneath the family’s polished surface. Amanda Seyfried stars as Nina Winchester, the seemingly perfect wife, while Brandon Sklenar plays her husband, Andrew. The cast also includes Michele Morrone as a groundskeeper named Enzo, Elizabeth Perkins as Andrew’s mother Evelyn, and several other supporting actors.

Filming took place in New Jersey from January to March. According to Lionsgate, the movie is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on December 19.

“I think audiences are going to be hooked by the tension and mystery in this story,” one source involved with the production told TODAY. The newly released clip highlights the dark and suspenseful tone of the film, giving viewers a glimpse of the household’s hidden dangers and Millie’s struggle to navigate them.

With the combination of Sweeney and Seyfried leading the cast and Paul Feig at the helm, The Housemaid is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated thrillers of the year.
