New ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Teaser Shows Johnny Storm Charming the Silver Surfer
Now that the Superman release is behind us, the comic fandom is preparing for the year’s second big release MCU’s Fantastic Four: First Steps.
It’s the 37th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a fresh start for the Fantastic Four films. The movie is directed by Matt Shakman and stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn. The story shows the team protecting their retro-futuristic world from a giant space villain named Galactus.
The movie’s making began after Disney bought the studio that owned the Fantastic Four. At first, Jon Watts was going to direct, but he left, and Matt Shakman took over. The filmmakers decided not to show the team’s origin story again. It is the first movie in Marvel’s Phase Six, and a sequel is already being planned.
As the movie’s marketing is slowly entering its final stages, Marvel Studios released a new teaser, this one sees Johnny Storm in the spotlight, trying to charm the Silver Surfer played by Julia Garner.

In the comics, Human Torch is sort of known as a womanizer. He is often shown flirting and dating many different women. He is confident and likes to have fun, which sometimes gets him into trouble. But deep down, he cares about his family and friends a lot.
Joseph Quinn, however, announced a few weeks ago that his take on the character will be a bit different compared to comics and previous movies.
Although Joseph Quinn admired Chris Evans’s take on Johnny Storm in the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four movies, he chose not to copy that version. Quinn and producer Kevin Feige talked about how Johnny was shown as a womanizer before, but they agreed that this wouldn’t seem “sexy” to today’s audiences.
Quinn wanted his Johnny to be more aware of how his actions affect others and less careless, while still keeping his bold attitude and sense of humor. Director Matt Shakman also pointed out that Johnny is smart and brave, even if he hides it behind jokes.
Clearly, this teaser shows that the new version of Human Torch will be more similar to its predecessors than we originally anticipated.
