Netflix is set to bring the popular Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell video game to life in a new animated series called Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. Produced by Ubisoft Film & Television, this espionage show is expected to launch on Netflix in late 2025.

Recently, fans got a fresh look at the series along with the exciting news that Liev Schreiber will voice the lead character, Sam Fisher.

Sam Fisher is the tough leader of Fourth Echelon, a secret U.S. government unit that handles covert counter-terrorism missions. Schreiber’s voice is the latest to take on this role, replacing Michael Ironside, who previously voiced Fisher in the games. Ironside stepped down in August 2024, saying he felt too old for the part on TV.

Netflix confirmed Schreiber’s casting the next month, alongside the release of the first official look at the series.

The animated show is being guided by Derek Kolstad, the lead writer and executive producer, who is known for his work on action-packed projects. Directors Guillaume Dousse and Félicien Colmet-Daage are also involved.

The animation is being handled by Sun Creature Studio, a team based in Denmark and France, along with the French studio Fost.

The project was first announced back in July 2020, when Ubisoft revealed they were working on bringing Splinter Cell to Netflix as an animated series. Early reports suggested two seasons were planned, but Kolstad later clarified only the first season has been officially approved so far. The wait for the series has been long, but this new look and the news about the cast make it clear the show is moving forward.

According to announcements from Ubisoft and Netflix, Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is scheduled to hit Netflix by the end of 2025.

Keep an eye out for more updates as the release date gets closer!
