New Star Wars Comic ‘Tales from the Nightlands’ Brings Halloween Horror to a Galaxy Far, Far Away

A spooky new Star Wars comic is coming this fall! Star Wars: Tales from the Nightlands is a three-part miniseries full of scary stories set in the Star Wars universe. It will launch on September 3, 2025, just in time for the Halloween season.

The comic is written by Tales from Vader’s Castle creator Cavan Scott, and it features artwork by Soo Lee, Vincenzo Riccardi, and Robert Hack. The creepy cover is done by Francesco Francavilla, and the lettering is by Comicraft. A new scary character called The Nightlander was designed by Star Wars legend Iain McCaig, who also helped create the look of Darth Maul.

The story takes place on the planet Ryloth, where the Twi’lek people believe in a ghostly place called the Nightlands. This is where their spirits go after death. But on some nights, the wall between the living and the dead becomes very thin. That’s when something terrible can happen.

The villain of the story is The Nightlander, a ghostly figure who wants to take over a living body and spread fear across the galaxy.

Each issue of the series will focus on a different set of heroes:

• Issue #1: Obi-Wan Kenobi and young Anakin Skywalker visit Ryloth and try to contact the ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn. But they end up calling something much darker…
• Issue #2: Luke and Leia face the Nightlander.
• Issue #3: Rey and Finn take on this new evil in a terrifying final story.

Artist Soo Lee said, “My favorite duo Obi-Wan and Anakin encountering terrifying cosmic beings is exactly the kind of story I’ve been itching to tell in Star Wars!”

Writer Cavan Scott added, “We’re telling three chilling tales that span the entire Skywalker Saga—prequels, original trilogy, and sequels. And beware the Nightlander… she’s beautiful, terrifying… and coming right for you!”

Star Wars: Tales from the Nightlands #1 arrives on September 3, 2025, and will be available at comic shops for $5.99.

On the planet Ryloth, Twi’leks speak in hushed tones about the Nightlands, the spectral realm where their spirits retire after death. According to legend, there are certain nights when the veil between that haunted place and the land of the living is so thin that one can communicate with the other side.

Enter: The Nightlander, a Star Wars boogeyman who seeks to possess a powerful, living host and bring despair to the galaxy!
