New Teaser Drops for Adrian Chiarella’s ‘Leviticus’ – Fans Get a New Look at the Dark New Project
A new teaser has been released for Leviticus, the upcoming supernatural horror film from writer and director Adrian Chiarella, giving audiences another glimpse into the dark and unsettling world of the project ahead of its theatrical release.
The update comes from early promotional material tied to the film’s rollout in Australia and its festival debut earlier this year. Leviticus is a 2026 Australian horror film that mixes supernatural terror with psychological tension, focusing on two teenagers caught in a dangerous and emotional nightmare.
At the center of the story are Naim and Ryan, two teens who are forced to escape a violent supernatural entity. The terrifying twist is that the entity takes the form of the person they desire most, which in their case means it appears as each other. This idea drives the emotional and horror elements of the film at the same time, blending fear with personal conflict.
The film premiered on 23 January 2026 in the Midnight section of the Sundance Film Festival, where it was introduced as part of a selection of genre titles aimed at late-night audiences. It is now scheduled for theatrical release in Australia on 18 June 2026, with international screenings expected to follow.
Leviticus is written and directed by Adrian Chiarella, who developed the project through VicScreen’s Originate initiative. According to production information, the film was shaped under the mentorship of script developer Angeli Macfarlane and draws on Chiarella’s own background in film editing as well as personal experiences.
The film has been described as a form of “queer social horror,” influenced by Asian cinema and modern horror films such as It Follows and The Witch. The story focuses not just on survival, but also on identity, fear, and emotional connection under extreme pressure.
The cast includes Joe Bird as Naim and Stacy Clausen as Ryan, the two leads at the center of the story. Mia Wasikowska appears as Arlene, Naim’s mother, and also serves as an executive producer on the film. Other cast members include Jeremy Blewitt as Hunter, Ewen Leslie as Rod, Davida McKenzie as Izzie, Nicholas Hope as the Deliverance Healer, Zamira Newman as Rita, and Edwina Wren as Jacky.
Production on Leviticus was supported by Screen Australia as part of its 2024–25 funding slate. The film was produced by Causeway Films in collaboration with Samira Productions, with post-production support from VicScreen and Kojo Studio.

The newly released teaser continues to build anticipation around the film’s unsettling premise and emotional intensity. It reinforces the central concept of desire turning into danger, as the characters are forced to confront both the supernatural threat and their own feelings for each other.
With its festival debut already complete and its Australian release approaching, Leviticus is positioning itself as one of the more distinctive horror films of 2026, blending genre storytelling with a strong emotional core and a focus on psychological tension.
