Marvel fans are getting more and more excited as The Fantastic Four: First Steps gets ready to hit theaters next week. This movie is Marvel’s second attempt to reboot the Fantastic Four, but this time the story feels different. The film brings in a cosmic-level danger, and Galactus, the massive villain, is right at the center of it.

Ralph Ineson is playing Galactus, and this character isn’t your usual bad guy. Ineson spoke to Marvel.com and explained that Galactus isn’t evil in a typical way. “He’s a god of sorts… a big, planet-eating guy, simply doing what a big, planet-eating guy does.” According to Ineson, Galactus is just following his nature. To get into character, he spent quiet time on rooftops, trying to imagine the calm, timeless energy of such a powerful being.

Recently, Marvel Studios released a short teaser that gave fans a look at Galactus in action. Even though it was just a few seconds, it showed Galactus destroying buildings with almost no effort. Director Matt Shakman described the character as a “humongous, 14-billion-year-old, planet-devouring cosmic vampire.” In earlier trailers, Galactus was shown walking through New York City, looking huge next to the skyscrapers.

Fans also got a good look at Galactus’ design. Marvel wanted to stay close to the comic books, so his iconic armor has been recreated carefully, and his massive size is clear from the teasers.

This movie doesn’t focus on how the Fantastic Four got their powers. Instead, the story picks up with the team already working together. The world they live in has a cool mix of futuristic tech and a retro 1960s look, which makes the movie feel different from past Marvel films. The Fantastic Four are played by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn. In this movie, they’re facing not just Galactus, but also his servant, the Silver Surfer.

Kevin Feige, who leads Marvel Studios, has wanted to bring the Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years. Feige was also focused on getting Galactus right. According to people working on the movie, Feige even used footage of Galactus from the Fortnite video game as a way to show the creative team how the character should feel in scale and power.

Filming for The Fantastic Four: First Steps took place last year in England and Spain, from July to November. The filmmakers used lots of real sets and practical effects, aiming to give the movie a unique style that sets it apart from other Marvel films. They took inspiration from classic sci-fi movies and mid-century designs to create that retro yet futuristic look.

Ineson’s version of Galactus is meant to be more than just a big monster. He feels like a natural force, something ancient and unstoppable. The filmmakers wanted him to seem calm but powerful, like something that’s been around forever and simply continues doing what it’s always done.

With the movie releasing soon, fans are waiting to see how the Fantastic Four will handle such a massive threat. It’s also going to be interesting to see how Galactus will affect future Marvel movies, as Marvel Studios builds the next phase of its cinematic universe.
