The upcoming Harry Potter TV reboot has officially found its Hagrid. Actor Nick Frost, best known for roles in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, has been confirmed to play the beloved half-giant groundskeeper in HBO’s new version of the magical story.

The reboot will bring J.K. Rowling’s famous books to the small screen, following the original Harry Potter films that ran from 2001 to 2011. While fans have been buzzing about casting rumors for months, the news of Frost taking on the role of Hagrid is now official.

Frost recently shared a touching message on Instagram after the news broke. Alongside a photo of himself holding a copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, he used one of Hagrid’s most famous lines to express his excitement: “You’re a wizard, Harry!!!

He also showed his appreciation for the chance to play such a meaningful character, writing: “Thank you for trusting me with such a loyal, gentle and courageous half-giant like Rubeus Hagrid.

In a particularly emotional moment, Frost addressed the late Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid in the original films and passed away in 2022. Frost honored the actor with a heartfelt promise: “Robbie, I promise I won’t let you down.

Fans of the series are already sharing their support online, excited to see Frost bring his own style to the role while honoring the legacy of Coltrane’s unforgettable performance.

The Harry Potter TV series is still in early development, but with passionate actors like Frost joining the cast, it’s clear the reboot is aiming to capture the magic all over again.
