Nicolas Cage has shared his opinion on who he thinks is the best Spider-Man in movies, and his answer might surprise some fans. The actor recently spoke about the topic during a promotional interview for his series β€œSpider-Noir.”

In the interview, Cage was asked if he had watched all of the Spider-Man films across different versions of the character. He did not clearly confirm whether he had seen every movie, but he still gave a direct answer when asked about his favorite Spider-Man performance.

Cage chose Andrew Garfield’s version of Spider-Man as the best. He praised Garfield’s acting and said he enjoyed his performance the most among the younger portrayals of Peter Parker.

He said, β€œI thought Garfield was a really great Spider-Man. I thought he did a really terrific job. He’s a marvelous actor.”

Cage also explained that Garfield’s version felt the most interesting and enjoyable to watch for him. He did not mention Tom Holland or Tobey Maguire in detail, but his comments made it clear that Garfield stood out to him.

The interview also included a light moment where Cage was introduced to a β€œfβ€”, marry, kill” game. He seemed confused about how it worked and did not fully engage with the format. During this segment, he again pointed to Andrew Garfield when asked to make a quick choice, repeating that Garfield was his top pick for Spider-Man.

Even though Cage did not directly compare all Spider-Man actors in a detailed way, his praise for Garfield was strong and simple. He focused mostly on the acting performance rather than the storylines or films themselves.

At the same time, Cage is currently promoting β€œSpider-Noir,” a new series where he plays a different Marvel character. The show is separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and also not connected to Sony’s Spider-Verse films. It takes place in its own version of the Marvel world.

In β€œSpider-Noir,” Cage plays Ben Reilly, a character who is also known in comics as a Spider-Man clone in some storylines. However, the show changes his origin and character background.

Instead of following the traditional Spider-Man story, the series gives Ben Reilly a different origin. In this version, his powers come after being bitten by a prisoner who was part of a failed super-soldier experiment during the Great War. This is different from the original comic book story, where Peter Parker gains powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider.

β€œSpider-Noir” focuses on a darker and more grounded world. It reimagines familiar superhero ideas in a different setting and tone. Cage’s role as Ben Reilly is part of this alternate universe storytelling approach.

Cage’s comments about Spider-Man come at a time when multiple versions of the character are popular in film and television. Tom Holland currently plays Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire have returned in recent crossover films.

Even with all these versions, Cage’s choice shows a clear preference for Andrew Garfield’s interpretation. His praise was simple and focused on acting performance rather than franchise scale or box office success.

The interview gives fans another small glimpse into how actors view the different versions of iconic characters. In Cage’s case, his favorite Spider-Man is clear, even if he did not go into deep explanation about it.
