Nicole Kidman, 58, and Sandra Bullock, 61, Spark Buzz With ‘Practical Magic 2’ Reveal at Cinemacon
According to reports from CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reunited on stage on Tuesday night to officially tease Practical Magic 2. The event brought the two actresses together again, more than two decades after the original 1998 film became a cult favorite.
The presentation focused on both nostalgia and the future of the story. Bullock and Kidman appeared together to introduce the sequel and even recreated a well-known moment tied to the original film.
During the segment, Bullock asked the reason for their appearance, and Kidman responded with the familiar line, We come to this place for magic. That moment drew strong reactions from fans and set the tone for the reveal of the new film.

Reports from CinemaCon say the teaser showed the Owens family home rebuilt for the sequel. The story continues many years after the original film and introduces the next generation of the family. Joey King and Maisie Williams are set to play Sally Owens’ grown daughters.
Kidman spoke briefly about the story during the presentation. She described it as a mix of family drama, fantasy, and darker emotional themes. She said, Midnight margaritas, jumping off the roof, and also having our past catching up with us.
The new film also continues the mix of humor and dark magic that the original was known for. In one scene shown in the teaser, Bullock’s character, Sally, warns a new character played by Lee Pace about the consequences of love and loss.
Kidman’s character Gillian then adds a joke about modern dating, saying, A really horrible death… It’s not great for the Tinder bio. Bullock also shared her feelings about returning to the role. According to coverage from the event, she said filming again felt emotional and familiar, describing it as like coming back to a place she had not been in for years.
Practical Magic 2 is currently scheduled for release on September 11. The film is directed by Susanne Bier and also brings back original cast members Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing, which adds more continuity for longtime fans of the first movie.
Outside of this project, both actresses continue to stay busy. Nicole Kidman has been working on the Prime Video series Scarpetta, where she plays Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. She is also attached to upcoming films, including Discretion and Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
Sandra Bullock has also remained active in film, including her role in The Unforgivable and several other developing projects as she continues her return to the screen.
With the original cast returning and a new generation of characters joining the story, Practical Magic 2 is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about films ahead of its release.
