‘Obsession’ Star Inde Navarrette Has High Praise for Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Inde Navarrette is not confirmed to be joining Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot, but that has not stopped her from sharing her excitement about the franchise’s next generation of mutants.

The ‘Obsession’ breakout star recently opened up about her Marvel hopes, her dream role, and why she is already impressed by Sadie Sink’s work as Jean Grey.

While rumors have connected Navarrette with the MCU, the actress made it clear that nothing official has happened yet. During an appearance on Variety’s “Up Next” podcast, she revealed that she has been taking meetings across Hollywood following the success of ‘Obsession’, including a conversation with ‘X-Men’ director Jake Schreier.

Navarrette praised Schreier’s work on ‘Thunderbolts*’, explaining why she was interested in meeting with the filmmaker. “I thought what Jake brought to ‘Thunderbolts’ was what I used to love about Marvel. It was character-driven, and the whole time I just couldn’t stop yapping about how much I appreciated what he did with Marvel,” she said.

Although their meeting does not mean she has been cast in the MCU, Navarrette did reveal which mutant she would love to play if the opportunity ever came up. Her answer was Mystique, one of the most recognizable characters in the X-Men universe.

Mystique has always been super cool, Navarrette said when discussing her dream Marvel role. The character, known for her ability to transform into anyone, has been a major part of the X-Men franchise for decades, previously played by Rebecca Romijn and Jennifer Lawrence in earlier films.

For Navarrette, the appeal of Mystique goes beyond just the character’s powers. She explained that she has always enjoyed seeing the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating characters with complicated makeup and visual effects. She specifically mentioned being fascinated by the practical effects used for characters like Mystique, as well as the creatures and designs from the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movies.

While Navarrette may not have a confirmed MCU role, she is already showing support for another young actress entering the mutant world. She recently praised Sadie Sink’s performance as Jean Grey in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, calling her work impressive.

“Sadie Sink did a phenomenal job… she completely stole the movie. I can’t wait to see where she goes,” Navarrette said.

Sink’s casting as Jean Grey has been one of the biggest talking points surrounding Marvel’s next X-Men era. Fans are already looking ahead to how the new generation of mutants could come together, and Navarrette’s name has quickly become one that audiences would like to see added to the lineup.

At the moment, Marvel has only confirmed a few details about the upcoming ‘X-Men’ reboot. Along with Sink as Jean Grey, Samara Weaving has joined the project as Emma Frost. However, many major roles remain unannounced, leaving plenty of room for speculation.

The reboot is being directed by Jake Schreier, with a script from Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. Marvel has not announced a release date yet, but the project is expected to play a major role in the studio’s next phase of storytelling.

For now, Navarrette’s Mystique comments remain a dream casting idea rather than an official announcement. Still, with her rising profile and growing fan support, many viewers are already imagining what she could bring to the X-Men universe.
