Inde Navarrette has spent the past several months riding an unexpected wave of momentum following her breakout turn in ‘Obsession‘, a horror film that turned a modest 750,000 dollar budget into more than 426 million dollars worldwide. That kind of box office success has opened doors well beyond the movie world, landing her at the center of one of gaming’s biggest crossover moments of the summer.

Navarrette joined Fanatics Fest 2026 at New York City’s Javits Center this weekend, appearing alongside NBA star Kevin Durant, Infinity Ward studio head Mark Grigsby, and Activision marketing executive Tyler Bahl for a panel dedicated to ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’.

The conversation, hosted by media personality Katie Nolan, was Activision’s first-ever presence at the massive sports and pop culture convention, which drew an estimated 150,000 attendees across its four-day run.

In the middle of that whirlwind weekend, a fan showed up with a genuinely thoughtful gift, presenting Navarrette with an ultra-rare, sealed copy of ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’, reportedly worth around 1,000 dollars. For a gaming panel built around hyping up the newest entry in the franchise, the gift landed as a fitting nod to where Navarrette’s own connection to the series actually began.

That connection runs deep and personal for Navarrette. Speaking to Variety, she explained that it was her father who first introduced her to the franchise through ‘Modern Warfare 2’ specifically, recalling how the two of them used to play Local Party matches together as a duo. She described her favorite map from those sessions as Rust, running a loadout built around the SCAR as her primary weapon and the Thumper as her secondary, though she admitted her dad usually came out on top.

Navarrette also opened up about what makes the franchise so appealing to her on a deeper level. She told Variety that ‘Call of Duty’ completely takes over her focus whenever she plays, describing the constant need to stay alert to every moving part of a match as something that almost quiets her mind entirely.

She added that returning to the series still carries a strong sense of nostalgia tied back to her childhood.

Activision’s decision to bring Navarrette onto the panel reflects a broader strategy the company is leaning into with ‘Modern Warfare 4’, which is set specifically in New York City and draws on local culture, including music from the Wu-Tang Clan, as part of its overall identity. Pairing that setting with Fanatics Fest’s New York venue gave the studio a natural opportunity to court an audience well beyond the usual gaming convention crowd.

‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’ is scheduled to launch on October 23 for PS5, Xbox Series X and S, PC, and Switch 2, with attendees at Fanatics Fest getting early hands-on access to its multiplayer ahead of that release. For Navarrette, walking away from the weekend with a piece of the exact game that first hooked her on the franchise feels like a fittingly full circle moment in the middle of her own rapidly rising career.
