Warner Bros. has been teasing a prequel to the ‘Ocean’s Eleven‘ universe for years, ever since Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 heist comedy turned George Clooney’s Danny Ocean into one of modern cinema’s most iconic con men. The project bounced through multiple directors and cast changes before finally taking shape, and fans have spent years wondering what a version of the story without Clooney could even look like.

That question is starting to get answered. Production has now moved to the streets of Paris, where the untitled prequel is deep into filming with its new leads in full 1960s wardrobe, giving the public its clearest look yet at what Warner Bros. has been building behind the scenes.

According to new set, Bradley Cooper, Margot Robbie, and Monica Barbaro were spotted filming in Paris, France, with the story centered on the origin of Danny Ocean’s parents. The film is written and directed by Cooper, who stars alongside Robbie, Wagner Moura, and Monica Barbaro, and serves as a prequel to the 2001 ‘Ocean’s Eleven.’ Cooper stepped in to write and direct after Lee Isaac Chung departed the project earlier this year.

The plot itself centers on a heist that predates everything audiences already know about the Ocean family. Set in 1962 Monte Carlo, the story follows Danny Ocean’s parents as they pull off an elaborate heist tied to the Monaco Grand Prix, essentially reframing Danny not as the franchise’s original mastermind, but as the product of two even earlier ones.

Robbie herself confirmed those plot details months ago. Speaking during a sizzle reel at Warner Bros.’ 2026 CinemaCon presentation, the actress told the crowd, “Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows, his parents,” a line first reported by Variety. She added that audiences would see the pair “in their prime,” pulling off their signature con well before their son ever set foot in a casino.

The ensemble filling out that 1962 heist is stacked with recognizable names. Beyond Cooper and Robbie, the cast includes Vicky Krieps, George MacKay, Jack Holden, Lauren Ridloff, Omar Sy, Wagner Moura, and Josh Gad, with Moura reportedly playing the film’s central villain. Monica Barbaro, fresh off her Oscar-nominated turn in ‘A Complete Unknown,’ rounds out the leading trio.

The Paris shoot has already given fans plenty to chew on visually. Robbie has been photographed in tailored black-and-white looks that lean into vintage Audrey Hepburn-style glamour, including a white shift dress, pointy-toe pumps, and a wide-brimmed hat, while Barbaro has worn period-appropriate suits that match the film’s early-1960s setting.

Production reportedly began in Paris this summer and is expected to move on to Nice and Monaco in the coming months as filming continues to chase the film’s Monaco Grand Prix centerpiece. Warner Bros. has set the film for release on June 25, 2027, meaning fans still have a long wait before finding out whether Danny Ocean’s parents can live up to the con-artist legacy he eventually built for himself
